Their 1911's are as good as or better than Wilsons, Nighthawks etc, and priced lower than theirs. When you go to any custom gunmaker or true artisans such as Turnbull, the result is what you are seeking. If price is your main concern, Wallmart or Cabelas is a better choice.
Your son works for a great company, he must be very good at what he does to work there. I have had three guns done by Turnbull, they restored a 125th Aniv. Colt SAA back to what a 1964 SAA should look like. They engraved and nickel plated a 3rd. Gen SAA I had, And they custom made a 1911 Colt Gold Cup National Match. I felt their prices were very reasonable for what I asked them to do, over the top quality.
Enjoyed the video. Your son appears to be a very talented young man with a bright future! Definitely a lost art, (Gunsmiths)! I've Had Turnbull do some work for me, and although there not for everyone, I'd go back!
Not to take away from Doug's shop having three pieces his firm has touched, the latter returned a non-functional SXS. Sam got on it with a return mailer, a phone call from him and a week later it was sorted. But, my recent Standard Manufacturing Single Action 45 Colt is perfection as well. I suspect their 1911's are the same.
