Not sure how you are faster with iron sights, if you are able to aquire the iron sights quickly then you should see the dot
I think it's because I have a pretty clear view of the rear sight, along with the front sight, as I point the pistol towards the target. I wouldn't call it instinctive, but its natural to me. It should carryover to the RDS, but it doesn't. That seems to tell me that I need to work on it, regardless if I use irons or RDS, as I'm obviously correcting during the motion.
And it's irons-only, vs. RDS, where I think that I am faster with irons. Not irons-with-RDS-off vs. RDS-powered-on. Trying to use irons with the RDS powered off still screws me up.
I don't think it's a reason to dismiss the RDS. Just need more practice. I put an RDS on my compact 9mm, fullsize 9mm, and 22LR to work through it.
