Since the frame is unfinished stainless steel, it would be a simple matter to send it out for some checkering on the front strap. I believe Springfield will even do that service for you, either machine checkering (much less expensive) or hand checkering (much more expensive).
Nice
The Ronin has more or less replaced the Range Officer models, which have been moved to the "Loaded" series. The Ronins are priced at the RO old prices, and the ROs prices have been upped a bit.
I don't think Springfield charges much more than a hundred dollars for machine checkering of a bare stainless front strap. I'd definitely look into that if I bought one of those.
i think it's kind of chinzy to ship with only one mag
Agreed.
Once upon a time Sig catalogued their 1911’s in 10mm. Though a long time lover of 45 Super, I was still gonna buy one. When I tried to source one they disappeared. I was so aggravated. Now that I have 4 or 5 Sig 1911’s I am such a fan I’d be hard pressed to defect from brand loyalty. But, I still want a Sig in 10mm. I may have one of my 45’s custom fitted.

Yep. A lot of the manufacturers are doing that schitt now.
The last 2 New Rugers I bought came that way.

Glock and Sig are about the only ones shipping with multiple mags anymore.

If I needed a new 10mm in a 1911, the Springfield would definitely be one I would consider. Never had any problems with any gun I’ve purchased from them.
God & JMB intended that the 1911 be a 45 ACP.......................just sayin'.

True but a 38 super has always called my name

The Springfield Custom Shop is not what it used to be. From what I understand in reading posts on various 1911 forums, they only build guns now. Sending in for custom work sounds like it is a thing of the past.

God and JMB are okay with it if it's made by Colt. They both told me so.

Nothing wrong with that Springfield though.

seems like JMB s original effort at an auto pistol was built in 38 ACP ?

Didn't make the cut, though, if only obviously.
