HK USP 45 ACP

SW Mountain Gun 45LC
Glock 19, 1911 and a 629 mountain gun.

A Glock 19, a 5.5" barrel Colt SAA in .45 Colt with a spare .45 ACP cylinder, and a lightweight S&W J-Frame .38 Special snubby. If I could have a fourth, it would be a six inch S&W Model 29-2 or -3 (.44 Magnum). If I could have a fifth, it would be my middle 1960s Colt Government Model .45 ACP.
Sig M11, S&W 57 & Ruger MkII bull barrel with threaded barrel
Glock 19, 20 and 43. If I could add one for fun, a Smith M41.
I've got a Springfield range Officer 9mm Target in the midst of a conversion to .38 Super, I'd hang onto that one, and a Ruger SR1911 Target in .45, likewise, and probably my Ruger Single Six convertible, which I shoot pretty darned good.

If I were to deer hunt with a handgun again, I'd probably just use the .45 and +P loads, and get closer. I'd keep the 9mm/.38Super because they're just fun as heck to shoot.

There's a town in Florida called Florida? Is that where the Redundant Department of Redundancy is located?
I did at one time. Ruger MKII, Colt anaconda and a Glock21.

I could probably make do with those.
A 4" S&W model 10, and just about any other two.
That would mean things have gotten really stupid in America. So,

Glock 19 - carry
Glock 19 - house
Glock 19 - spare

Universal ammo/magazines, spare parts cannibalization if needed, common pistol for myself, spouse, etc.

Nice.
Impossible. Hell I have three Glock 17’s alone.

If you like to live a nightmare like that - go to Germany. Two is the limit - with a few exceptions. If you want more, you have to deal with some bureaucracy.
BLASPHEMY !!!!!
You go to a hot place for even thinking such a thing!!!
My choices would be a 5 1/2 inch Stainless Ruger Single Six, a Glock 43x to carry and a Springfield XDM 10mm in case something needed to be shot hard. In fact, I pretty much use these 3 now. I have a few others but would be fine with these.
A .22 pistol
A centerfire pistol
A centerfire revolver

I'd never allow myself to be limited like that.... Not now - not ever. smile
A well made 1911
A S&W revolver in .357 with 6" Barrel..... preferably pre 1980ish.
A good .22. Likely a revolver in Ruger or S&W.
K-22
Ruger Security Six in .357
Sig P329 sub compact in 9mm

I have others, but those three are the ones that usually go with me
One for plinking, one for while I am in the saddle, and one for CC
S&W 4" K frame .22 RF

S&W 4" K frame .22 Magnum.

Colt 1911 .45 acp.
fixed it for ya.

SW Shield in 40
Customized Gold Cup
Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt.
Shedding tears over my 22rfs
I would keep my Ruger Super Redhawk .480 Ruger for general big game hunting,
My S&W Shield .45, for general carry,
and my S&W Mod. 63 .22 LR. for small game and plinking.

+1.
Couldn't have said it better myself!
Seems to be a lot of agreement on the Glock 19 being in the list of three. I count 12 so far.
I like to have access to and the ability to use ammo so I'm going to cheat:

G23 40SW, with a 9mm barrel/mags and 357 Sig barrel

4" .357 revolver for Mag's and Specials

22 lr, most likely the 3" LCRx revolver but a 22/45 Lite would be ok...the LCRx is just so handy, light, accurate enough, and likely to be less ammo specific on function than an auto.

Although I only have one specific use for it, and really don't care for it much aside from that use, the S&W Gov gives you the ability to use 45ACP, 45 Colt, .410's....so it's an honorable mention.
I think MontanaMarine said it best, if things go down to a grab and go never to return, I'll be grabbing my G19 and my spare G19 for the reasons he listed.

Barring TEOTWAWKI my list would put me with a G19 for SD, a 1911 for fun and my 629 MG for elephants. Figure I could live out my days and not get too bored.
One of my guns might would be a T/C Contender with 5 barrels. Do dat count??

Got that covered. smile
Glock 19x
S&W 629
S&W 686
A good 1911
A revolver and a pistol chambered in 22lr.

I’m double the three gun limit but it would cover most of the handgun shooting that I do if really forced to narrow it down. An FNX .45 Tac for honorable mention just because I really like it.
Glock 21
Colt woodsman
Beretta 92
I've sold off many firearms, as I'm long retired and am not here for the long haul.

Most of the $$$$ is in savings but I got some good trade-in money enabling me
to buy three top-end handguns - that I never would have purchased otherwise.
So, I figure - I would keep:

Sig P-210, 9MM Target Pistol.
Sig Sauer, 320 AXG 'Classic' (Talo Excllusive) 9MM Pistol.
Kimber K6S DASA, Target Revolver .357 MAG.

Otherwise (more peactically) & because I shoot them so well,
and two of them 'carry' anywhere:

Ruger LCRX DA, 3" BBL - 38 SPL Revolver.
Kimber Micro - 9MM
CZ 85 'Combat' (Glossy Blue) 9MM.

My Colt Delta Elite, my Colt Match Target, and s&w md 10

I hear you about pre-war Colt OM's. They have a slight edge in accuracy over my K-Smiths, but I can shoot the K-22 a bit better for some dumb reason. There is something about the sheer slickness of a pre-war Colt OM that has to be experienced to understand. Now if I could only find an affordable Colt OMM in .32 my life would be complete!

Not being a "carrier of pistols", my list contains nothing geared toward combat/life saving utility. But the Gold Cup wouldn't be non too shabby in that regard, with a spring swap-out.
Browning Buckmark, Glock 20, and a 22 cal air pistol.
Colt 1911 Series 70
Colt Woodsman 22
Smith & Wesson 4" 41 Mag (blue or stainless)
Lots of guys list a nice auto pistol, a heavy magnum revolver, and a 22 LR revolver or autopistol.

I would follow the trend, except I can replace the 22 LR with my six shot SP 101 in 327 mag. The action is tuned to equal most factory Smiths. It is quite accurate with handloads from 22 WMR equivalent to 38 +P equivalent.

Heavy magnum revolver is covered by a Smith 657 mountain Gun.

Autopistol is a Kimber 1911 with three barrels and seven mags in the case, in 9mm, 38 Super, & 10mm.

I would miss the Ruger SBH hunter in 41 mag. But what I can do with it, I can do with a rifle.

I would miss the Titanium 41 mag. But when I carry these days it is usually a 327.

I would really miss the single sevens, the single six, and the Ruger LCR for my pocket.

Three isn't enough to cover all the niches. Takes 5-6 minimum. Sticking with 3 means some things are not going to get done.

Tom
If I could only own 3 hand guns I'd get a better job.

I left out a .22 because they sell .22 conversion kits for the Glock 19, which made my list of three.
Wilson Combat ULC Professional bobtail .45.

Wilson Combat ULC Commander bobtail .45.

One sits on my nightstand, the other is my EDC.

No need for a third.

If we take self defense off the table, I could finish out the rest of my life shooting these 3 and never get bored.

I think the OMT .22 is my new favorite handgun. Anytime I go to the range it's the fist gun I reach for, and its the one I enjoy shooting the most. Trigger is a case study in perfection, sights have the most wonderful sight picture, and the revolver is just wicked accurate. OMG its fun.

Can't believe it took as long as it did for an OM to make the cut.

For me...
Colt OMM
Colt Custom Comp 1911
Glock 23
Browning Buckmark 22LR
Colt Series 70 1911 45 ACP
Sig P226R 9x19
Glock 45
M1911 pistol
HK USP Compact

Small game

Self defense

Big game

Pick you brand & model.

TSHTF? I'll take much bigger, badder, higher cap stuff than a pistol.
Nice pick!
Small game: Ruger Mk 2 target 5.5" bull barrel Volquartsen competition kit plus installed with Leupold 2.5x8 scope. I picked it over some other good choices I have such as an identical Ruger mk 2 target with green dot reflex on it, a Browning Field Target, a Browning Bullseye, a Smith & Wesson Victory, and several others.

Self defense: A Sig 365. It just works well for me in several different scenarios. I picked it over several other good choices I have such as a customized Sig 938, a S&W 1911sc, two Glock 19s, a Glock 26, a Glock 42, a PPK, a LCP, a SP101, and others.

Large game: A S&W 629 vcomp with 5" barrel (it was a special run many years ago). It has accounted for a number of deer and other critters over the years. I picked it over other good choices such as a S&W 69, a Ruger Redhawk, an xframe in 460, and others.
1. 4 inch square butt Smith and Wesson model 63 in 22 LR

2. 4 inch square butt Smith and Wesson Model 686 in 357 magnum

3. 4 inch round butt Smith and Wesson Model 629 Mountain Gun in 44 magnum.

OR

1. Ruger 22/45 4 inch barrel in 22 LR

2. Glock 45, 9mm

3. Glock 20, 10mm

In the early 80s I felt like I had things covered with a Model 17, a Model 60, and a 686.
Various others came and went. Fell into and out of love with the Super Blackhawk a couple of times

Then for nearly 20 years my only owned handgun was a 2 1/2" model 66.

The only real lack I felt was for a rimfire. Scratched that itch with an original charter pathfinder bought from a member here.

Things progressed.
Suspect the damned things are breeding when I close the safe up. Am now in overflow condition with several residing in a locked steel file cabinet

3?

I wish I never sold my early 1980s Charter Arms Pathfinder. There are so many guns that I've sold that I cannot now imagine what I was thinking at the time. That was a cool little gun.
Ruger mk 4 target .22
Glock 19 9mm
Ruger super redhawk.44 mag
My first three would probably still do anything I really needed to do with a handgun:

1. Ruger MKII 6 7/8” Gov.Target Model .22 LR
2. Ruger Old Model Blackhawk 4 5/8” .357 Mag
3. Browning HiPower 9mm

They may not be the three I would pick today, but I think they would do just fine.
Ok,,,,,, this is pretty easy, as I only own 3-Handguns,,,,,,, see attached..... cool Lj

Attached picture LJ's Ruger .22_Hunter_Fluted_SS_6inch +_ Barrel 01.jpg
Attached picture LJ's S&W 329PD HandGun Work-Over 2021 (8).jpg

-Full size auto pistol (Glock 17, Beretta APX, S&W M&P, etc)
-Concealed carry auto (Glock 43, Ruger LCP, etc)
-22 fun gun (Single six, Buckmark, etc)
glock 19
glock 43 or smith 38/442/642/37/638
browning buckmark
caveat, I don't use handguns to hunt so my choices

1) 9mm Polymer striker fired handgun (M&P. Glock, etc. whatever floats your boat)
2) Back-up 9mm polymer striker fired handgun from #1
3) 4" barrel L-frame 357mag of your choosing.
Very hard to pick but being practical I’d have to choose.
S&W Shield Plus
FA 97 44 special 4.25”
FA 83 454 7.5”

It’s hard to leave out a 22 and a S&W Model 10
Glock 41 with kkm Percision 6 inch ss barrel.
Ruger 5.5 inch Bisley 45 colt, extra 45 acp cylinder
XD service 9mm,40 S&W, 357SIG ,three barrels one hundgun.
Glock 19 9mm
S&W 1911sc
Sig P226R 9x19

Ok, my 4” S&W Model 57 41 magnum, one of my 4” Ruger RedHawks 44 magnum, and my 7.5 inch Redhawk also in 44 magnum. I would be well armed! That said, I would love to keep my Glock 17 and my Sig 365! Oh, and my 4” stainless Security Six! Okay, forget it, I’m keeping them all!!!
Everyone should have a rambling around .22 LR with adjustable sights, so mine would be a Colt Woodsman.
Personal defense should be a concealable 9mm and there I'd have the Sig 365XL.
Third one is the hardest because anything that I can do with a larger caliber handgun, I can do better with a rifle. For a take along camping handgun my .44 Magnum S&W 629 Classic would be a nice one.
I’d have to narrow it down to three revolvers, which would be the K22 for small game and practice, the M19 for defensive use, and my Clements Custom 44 SPL for a BBQ/deer gun. If going the three pistol route, the bull barreled Buckmark with a can for small game and practice, my 1911ES for defensive use/carry and my 1911 10mm for a deer gun. I could go either way, but I wouldn’t be happy about it.

Old70
Glock 34 9mm, Ruger Single Six, Ruger Redhawk Toklat .454.

Glock 34 for carry/defense.
Single six .22lr/war for small game, plinking, trapline, etc.
Redhawk Toklat in .454 for hunting/defense. Can shoot .454 and .45 colt
Threads like this all over the internet

IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE 1 3 5.............Are a waste of time and band with as it ain't gonna happen.
Sig 365
Xdm 10mm
Narrowing down a 44 mag revolver for #3 would be tough between my 329pd that goes afield with me the most, or my old mtn gun because it still carries pretty well but is more fun to shoot, or my 4" anaconda just because I don't ever want to lose it.

Bb
Ruger Single Six .22 LR/Mag for trapping, Glock 23 for self defense (maybe a 1911 of some sort) and a Ruger Blackhawk .41 Mag for whatever else to include hunting and bear defense.

I do like my Ruger LCR .38 Special +P for concealed carry but I don't think it is as versatile for self defense as a mid sized Glock.
I have 'em:
'68 Python/6"bbl
TRP Op/45acp
.22/any one I have would do
That's a tuffy, I have 5 of the 6 you mentioned, outside my 629 is 6in.

If I had to grab 3 out of my safe today.

My 22/45 lite, smith 686 4in, smith 17.
I need 2. Glock and my 500 jrh

Mine are A Dan Wesson model 15 51/2 barrel in 357 mag . AMT lighting heavy barrel 22rf . 1911 in 45acp.
All I need are Colts.

PS Nice trio.
Second Gen.1962, 45 Colt.
1911 Colt SA in 38-40

1955 Ruger Blackhawk

Are the three I currently own that I would choose if put in that position .
