I had the Frontier Scout Calf Commemorative. It was a gold plated gun, but I bought it to shoot, as I got it at a great price and didn't give a rip about the "California" part..
It was gold plated, but after I used it some, found the gold was very thin, on top of nickel. Polished the gold off, and it improved the appearance 100%.
That revolver was the most accurate .22 handgun I ever owned, with the possible exception of my S&W K frame .22lr.
The Colt had like a 6 1/2" bbl, and I could hit beer cans at 100 yards with it.
Had a Colt Ace that wasn't even in the same class of accuracy.
