Picked up a nice used Colt Anaconda last Saturday, made in 1992, with an 8" barrel. I was looking for one of the new ones, but decided to stay with one of the originals and I am very happy with it. Fantastic shooting gun and I am looking forward to running a lot more rounds through it.

I had the same gun, same vintage.

Had a Leupold 2x EER on it.

Killed a bunch of deer with it. Was stupid accurate with PMC 240gr Truncated Cone ammo.

One of the dumber things I ever did was sell it

Shot a small doe yesterday at 52 yards, BANG! FLOP!

When I bought my first .44 magnum revolver, it was a toss-up between a 6" Colt Anaconda and a 7 1/2' Ruger Redhawk. I had both revolvers out on the counter of a LGS, looking them over. The money difference was insignificant plus, at that time, I was a big Ruger fan boy. I got the Redhawk and it's served me well. In recent years I've always regretted not getting the Anaconda. It's got nothing to do with the fact that the Anaconda would, today, probably be worth more. I buy my guns to use, not to resell, not as "investments." If I recall correctly, what put me off on the Colt was the fact the all the sharp edges on the crane were left perfectly sharp. As a tool and die maker, I felt they should have been broken .010 or so, but they were actually sharp enough to cut your finger on while handling the gun. It put me off at the time.I guess my attitude was, if they didn't mind a detail so obvious, what else was let go?
