I have a few holsters and a belt, etc. some with light scuffs from use.
Would like to condition the leather without darkening it.
Nothing on their site re this.
Any ideas?

I’ve been using this stuff for decades and like it very much:

https://www.amazon.com/Bickmore-Bic...&hvtargid=pla-384918119428&psc=1

There are other saddle and tack products I have also used a long time, two of which are Leather New (a more penetrating cleaner and conditioner) and the Lexol brand of leather products. I would try Bick #4 first.

I'm a fan of Skidmores and Ray Holes products. I haven't noticed much darkening of the leather on any of the leather I use their products on, but you may be well advised to buy a small container of whatever you choose, because seriously you won't know unless you try. Most manufacturers advise to try a small amount on a inconspicuous place to be sure.

Thanks for the tip. I just sent for some Bick's.

Good point, these are both good as well, I’m especially fond of Ray Holes Saddle Butter. Anything that Ray Holes cooked up is good…I even had Gerald Ray Holes (his son) build me a saddle in 1988, but that’s another story.

Saddle Soap.
I use Lexol and Fiebing's Saddle Oil on all my leather goods.

I've read more than once that cold pressed extra virgin olive oil is good. Cold due to the acidity change that hot processing causes, or something like that. confused

I just tried some on an EPS Threepersons & can only see the slightest darkening. That seems to be lightening up as I type.
Extra virgin olive oil.

Pfft, like any of you would know what a virgin was/is.

I can't remember the last piece I had it's been so long, but nobody forgets their first. There was a virgin in the room & I was scared as I was all alone.

The OO on the holster has dried with no trace as far s I can tell. Try it, test a spot. Won't be the first thing that's gotten stolen from the kitchen & taken to the gun/reloading room.

When I oil leather extra virgin olive oil is exactly what I use. Well known local saddle maker turned me onto it years ago. I only oil my saddles once a year. You do not want to over oil your leather. I do it the once, then any other time through the year I use skidmores or saddle butter or chap wax on my leather that is going to be exposed to the elements. If you use a lot of olive oil on your leather, it will turn a pretty red color. Which does not bother me.

One coat of Bick's, before and after.

Very nice!
Thanks for the pics, longarm. That looks good.

I use extra virgin olive oil on my saddle once a year to keep it oiled up. anything looking dry gets another wipe down with it through the year, but traditionally it's only needed one time a year.

Looks really good, longarm, I take it you like the stuff.

Ordered some of the Bickmore leather conditioner and it did an amazing job on my EPS holster.
Also did a fixed blade pocket holster and will find a few more to put it on this weekend while it's snowing outside.
Thanks for the recommendation!

I sure do! Last night I did all the other holsters and gun belts. I applied a second coat to the holster pictured and it was again improved without darkening. Great stuff and big thanks to the poster who recommended it to me

Another suggestion is what three generations here on the farm have used. Pecard leather conditioner.
I’ve used Hubbards on a couple knife sheaths.

Montana pitch blend also.
