https://www.keltecweapons.com/firearm/pistols/p15/Seems like another interesting KelTec innovation. The 14oz empty weight for a 4" barrel 9mm is really interesting. I'm not sure about the grip safety, but it might work pretty well.
Not available anytime soon of course and I wonder what it will really sell for with an MSRP of $449?
Kel Tec really intrigues me.
They have put out some leading edge designs, actually ahead of
the trends.
But, their quality. Reliability?
Why in the heck font they add $30-50 to the cost of the gun and put into
quality?
They started the light 380 trend.
Ruger ripped them off, improved the gun and sold tons.
The P-11 was a very small, light 9mm. In the 90's.
The PF-9 slimmed it down.
All ahead of the trends.
Question?
What's it take, is it possible, for High Point, Kel-Tec, Tasco... to
move from the bottom of the barrel to midlevel+?
Or is the inertia of <mediocrity so much they need to create a new brand
to have success making "quality" guns?
I don't know if a new brand is needed or not.
Look at Bushnell, Leupold, etc. they all have a very base level all the way up to top level stuff. To me it would make more since for a top level company to have a different brand name for their cheap stuff to keep from hurting their name with someone saying "My Bushnell scope is junk" when they bought the $39 scope from Walmart instead of the $500 for a LSG store.
Keltec makes some stuff that is higher dollar like their shotguns and the sub 2000's. I don't know about the shotguns but the sub 2000's I have had always ran like they should.
I agree if watering the name down to some extent.
Leupold has never been at the very top, and I don't think they have
ever competed for the blister pack market.
But in many markets, I've questioned why you would trade a highly
regarded brand to make low dollar sales.
As to Bushnell?
In this area they are common, but in the low dollar version.
Folks look at my 3200s as a POS. Because they are Bushnell.
Most don't realize they made better than Wal-Mart versions.
