I'm looking for some range mags for the G48, anybody know of a source? I don't need factory mags, just a solid option for range days. I'm finding plenty for the G17/19, but nothing but OE for the 48. TIA.
What’s wrong with OE?
You can opt for hi cap Shield Arms versions .theyre steel and it’s recommended for full functionality you swap your mag catch to a steel version.
If, Magpul for instance, made mags for the 48 some bucks could be saved, but they don't. Shopping around might find orig. Glock for $25 or less. Mark a few for range use, abuse, etc. & have a few that are tested & set aside for carry.
But keep an eye on Magpul, or call them. They might be working on something, or not.
Shield Arms mags hold 15 rounds and fit flush just like the factory ones do.
Thanks for the replies. Already picked up a couple Shield for carry but was looking for some cheaper range mags to stock up. We have four G48s in the family now so I was hoping to pick up a dozen mags for a good price.
I see the Shield mags as a this or that thing, not both.
The steel Shield chews up the Glock mag catch. The steel Shield mag catch chews up the factory Glock mags... According to many reports. I'm not willing the spend a few hundred to find out.
My 48 carries & works nicely the way it is. If I see a potential need for 15 or more rounds, I move to a 17 or 34 with the big plus 2 mag for 19 rounds.
Gunzo - that’s a great point that I had forgotten about. My G48 has the metal catch and will probably be the primary for the Shield mags.
Palmetto is supposedly coming out with some for their new pistol. Could be a while.
People who have moved to Shield mags may want to sell their Glock mags.
