I am interested in changing the grip on my 629-4. Currently I have Hogue non finger groove grips which fit my hand well but I dislike the somewhat sticky rubber and they gap slightly on the left at the top along the side plate.

I would like something similar in shape and without finger grooves. I have looked at the wood offerings from Hogue and G-10 from VZ but not handled either in person. I had read that the VZ grips are relatively heavy, I find it hard to believe that they would be heavier than rubber but I would like to know for sure. Any opinions on those or other options would be welcome.

Thank you.

If you want some nice wooden grips for an N-frame but don't want to break the bank with one of the big name, custom makers,
you should look here: https://old.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/

They are an oem supplier for S&W and offer a large number of options for S&W's and other makes. I have them on all but one or two of my N frames, all but one of my K frames, and on my Beretta 92 IDPA gun. They are not like a spectacular, custom-fitted set you'll get from one of the big names for $250 on up, but they're a very nice replacement for the factory grips you want to replace. I have found them to offer exceptional service as well.

Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement. I have no connection to the company other than as a satisfied customer.
