Posted this in the classifieds but thought I may try here also.........

Looking for a nice double action revolver. A S&W 629 in 6" to 8 3/8" barrel would be perfect. Full lug preferred. Don't care if it has the lock or not. Looking for a shooter not a museum piece.

Thanks,
centershot

Centershot: Right on up the road (I-15) in Dillon, Montana last week there was a VERY nice condition Smith & Wesson Model 629 with 8 3/8" barrel (pre-lock of course or I would not be advocating for it!) the price is $950.00 (no sales tax in Montana) - the revolver has black plastic/rubberish grips on it and I am not sure those are factory or not.
I am headed to town today and will check and see if it is still there, if you are interested. Or you can call them at 1-406-683-9844.
Good luck in your quest - I would have bought this pistol but I already have one.

Thanks. Will keep it in mind.

I would make sure the frame is tapped for optic mounting. I think S&W started doing this in 1990s.

Centershot: That pistol is still there and the asking price (its there on consignment) is $965.00 (no sales tax in Montana) and it is a 629-1 model, again with the 8 3/8" barrel.
I tested the detonation lock-up timing and it is virtually perfect - at most 1 or 2 thousandths of play - which is way better than average/normal.
I surmise it has been shot VERY little.
Don't know the consignee.
Good luck with your search.

629 or 29. Simply, a classic among revolvers.

I do love my Colt Anaconda as well.

Itch scratched. Found this nice 6" 629-1 in a pawn shop today. Bundled it with a rangefinder and got a good deal. Bianchi holster came with it.

Well done.

Nice gun, it would be perfect in .45 Colt. S&W actually manufactured several hundred of this type as Model 625-
.

Just for fun. Blowing holes in targets, water filled jugs - maybe a mule deer, but doubtful.

They're fun on water filled targets. Cheap fruit too.

Very nice, enjoy! I miss my big hand cannons, too much arthritis anymore.
