I recently hard about the 9 X 23 cartridge being used in competition. It was created, as I understand it, to provide a "Major Caliber" with manageable recoil for a class of shooting requiring getting back on target.

What kind of competition was the 9 X 23 designed for? Does anyone shoot or know of someone who shoots this round?

Looks like it'd be a good combat round but not significantly better than the .357 Sig.

Thanks,

It was released by Winchester around 1996 fdor IPSC competition. It was designed to make "major" qualification (at least 175 PF units).

ricciardelli,

Thanks. I wonder if any one has taken to this cartridge for combat, police or self-defense work.

I think it's a round that will follow the .41 Action Express into obscurity

Logansdad,

I suspect you are correct.
