From a friend....

Now I lay me down to sleep,
beside my bed a Glock I keep.
If I should wake and find you inside,
The coroners van will be your next ride.

So what do you "keep" by the bed?

Bob

Usually, I keep whatever handgun by my bedside, which is my most recent acquisition.

Currently that is a Ruger LCR, 22LR.

Not much for protection I realize ... but I also have a pair of Chihuahuas for backup.

USP 40, with night sights.
Posted By: HawkI Re: ...bedtime? - 06/05/13
Springfield Ultra Compact 45

But I don't take it into the shower.....
Posted By: T_O_M Re: ...bedtime? - 06/05/13
S&W .357 loaded with Federal 125s.

One year when I was poor it was a short single six with the magnum cylinder, then a friggin' antique axe (blade nearly a foot tall, probably 7 pounds) in the closet. figured if I got to my axe and could make the first swing, there would be nothing left alive. It would sucked to be the poor dumb SOB who put their hand through my screen, that's for damn sure ...
Posted By: chlinstructor Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
Currently my Glock 24 Longslide .40cal with a Streamlight Lazer/Light on the rail.

glock 22
Posted By: Jim in Idaho Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
In the bedside drawer right now there is a Springfield XDm .45 with extra mag, a Springfield XDm 9mm with extra mag, a Kahr CW9 with extra mag, a Kahr CW45 with extra mag, and somewhere squeezed in there is a little Kel-Tec P32 with extra mag, all loaded with hot chambers.

I don't want to be running out of bullets when things go bump in the night and I have to do a little recon by fire...
Posted By: 222Sako Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
Sig Mosquito for little bumps in the night; 870 with #4 buck for big bumps.
Posted By: RoninPhx Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
I would be highly surprised, shocked I tell you, if you had a glock beside your bed. There are a few other things i can think of.

actually holy water and garlic. I got this thing about some of those critters that may have come here from the ol country. You think i'm kidding, not!!

We have a king size Tempurpedic bed which is actually two twin size mattresses on a king size bed frame. This Beretta PX4 Storm .45 acp with a Lazer/Light on the rail fits snugly between the two mattresses where it's only inches away should I need it. The light lets me make sure it's a bad guy before I put out HIS lights

Nothing bedside. I doubt they will get by my triple layer security system: Alarm, Dog, Wife (wakes up if a pin drops). A few steps away is a shotgun if needed.

Probably a needless reminder to all, but according to what I've been told, nightstands are one of the first places bad guys look for firearms when they break in. Whatever you have there, keep it somewhere safe when you're away.
Posted By: WoodsStalker Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
A XD .45 with a CT laser. Also a 600 lumen Fenix and a set of Walker Game Ears. Of course there are multi other guns within 10 feet or so.

A handgun, a flashlight
AND the dog's bed by the bedroom door to the hall.

Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm with VTAC night sights and and a rail mounted flashlight, extra mag

Posted By: vbshootinrange Re: ...bedtime? - 06/06/13
Right now, it's a Kahr P9 OR a Beretta 84 beside the bed, and a short barrel 870 20 ga. with buckshot near to hand.

Two Golden Retrivers sleep in our room also...

The handgun goes IWB when I get up, and stays there all day.

In the winter, it's usually a Beretta 92

What I've been wearing that day (usually a Glock) goes from my hip to bedside as I undress. 870 and a double (both with 00) are parked in a cabinet bedside as well.

currently it's a Ruger SR22 with a couple mags of PP's and a Mountain Gun 45 Colt with a few speed loaders.

Soon, it will be a M&P CORE 40 with a tbd red dot sight.

+1 on the prescription glasses for us contact lens wearers. Also electronic ear muffs. 45s are REALLY loud in a closed room. (Also the electronic ear muffs somewhat improve your hearing as things go bump outside the bedroom door.)
Posted By: Mannlicher Re: ...bedtime? - 06/08/13
the Springfield 1911-A1 with Surefire X300 rests on the bedside table.
The 870 and the Spikes Tactical AR are a short reach away. You just never know what you might be faced with.
I keep several good flashlights handy as well. The doors and windows are always locked at night, and they are sturdy. No one is just going to walk in.

A whole bunch of 230 grain Gold Dots in the mags are enough to change just about anyone's thinking errors about who should be in "Castle Mackay".
