Glad to have you here. I hope others make the change. The handgun board on this site is rather slow, so we would more or less have the place to ourselves. Most of the activity here in on the "Hunter's Campfire" and "Big Game" boards.

Hopefully we will have a good turnout and get a TC board going here. If you like what you see here, post back on the Yahoo board and invite the others to join us.

Are you an IHMSA (or NRA) silhouette shooter? Handgun hunter? Maybe a plinker and enthusiast?

I have been an IHMSA shooter since '82. I have been hunting with a handgun since '88. I am from southwest PA, and like to hunt here and in WY/MT. I am presently trying to draw a moose tag in ME. I would love to take a moose with a handgun!

Again, nice to see you.
Stush and guys (gals too)

If you would like your own Contender spot talk to Rickbin, he is the Webmaster and a really nice guy. Drop him an email or talk to him on the Webmaster page. I am sure he will help you guys out. If you have any other questions feel free to post anywhere. We are a nice bunch once you get to know us!

Welcome ALL!

Blammer,

I am sure that Rick would put up another board for us. I figured that I would invite the folks from the Yahoo board to use the handgun forum here since it gets little traffic, and their board was disintegrating due to format changes. Some have moved to the Accurate Reloading forums. At least one has checked in here. Hopefully more will follow and at that point maybe there will be a need for a separate TC forum. Thanks for the words of support!

Well I for one think that the Yahoo has shot itself in the foot.

I'm on the Accurate board but see no reason why I can't visit 2 forums

Glad to have you here. I check out the Accurate Forums as well. I think you'll find there are a good group of guys here. It would be nice to get some more activity on the handgun board though.
Hi Stush,

I just join IMHSA this year! I'm also from southwestern PA! Just bought my first T/C contender, .22lr 10" match blue barrel w/ walnut grips. There's only one IMHSA club close to use that I'm aware of. I'm going to see if I can make it there in May for my first match. Still haven't shoot it yet as our local sportsmens club has the pistol range under construction. Plus the weather hasn't cooperated. I'm looking forward to get more involved in the sport.

Where are you from in PA? I live near Saltsburg, which is about an hour east of Pittsburgh on the Westmoreland/Indiana county border.

The only IHMSA club in the area is Burrell Twp. Rod and Gun. It is on route 119 near Blairsville. I am there every month. Look for me there.

There is also a club in Midvale, OH that shoots IHMSA silhouettes. In fact, they are going to host the regional and international championships this year. Its supposed to be a first class setup with auto reset targets, etc. Its only about a two hour drive for me, so I may be checking it out a few times this summer.

Have you done any other silhouette shooting before?
Hi Stush,

I'm about an 1hour northwest of Pittsburgh, out around the Cranberry twsp area. Right off Exit 3 on the turnpike. About 15 minute drive from my house.

Yeah, that's the club I was talking about. Not sure how to get there. I'll have to call the contact person and get directions.

No, I never shot silhouette before. This will be my first time ever. About two years ago I met someone from Talk shooters website and met him out in Irwin for a NRA silhouette match. I just brought my .22lr rifle and plinked.

Took sometime to scrape the money together and decide what to buy for the sport. Bought my wife a Ruger Single Six so we can get involved together in the shooting sports.

From Cranberry you would take the Turnpike to Monroeville. From the Monroeville toll plaza, you would take PA Route 22 East to PA Route 119 North (a few miles past Blairsville). Once you are on 119, you will travel about 1 - 2 miles. You will be going through some pretty heavy highway construction during that 1 - 2 miles. You will turn right at a big barn with a large fenced in yard. There will probably be a big DETOUR sign there. I can't remember the township road name, or I would list it. If you come to a Sheetz on 119, turn around you have gone too far and missed the right hand turn. If you are definately planning to go, I can meet you somewhere along 22 and let you follow me the last stretch so you can find the place. I would guess it will take you about 1 - 1.5 hours get there from home. It probably wouldn't be too much further for you to go to the Midvale, OH range. You might want to look into it as well. Let me know if you would like the escort service to the range in May!

Hi Stush,
I used to shoot NRA sil. and am hoping to get back at it and am also planning to try IHMSA now that our club, Mckean County Rifle Club, is sanctioned and holding IHMSA matches, yes, I'm a handgun hunter as well as a plinker. I see you live in Saltsburg, I was just working in the Indiana area and made a few trips to Bee's Gunshop in Saltsburg. I get back down that way I'll send you an e-mail and maybe we could do a little shooting.
Mark
Stush,

Thanks for the directions. I get back to you closer to the time of the shoot. Somehow the wife always mangages to find work for me to do around the house. How do wive's do that? I gota make sure she doesn't plan anything else for us to do. I'll see if she wants to come to the match. What time do they start?

Leo

PS I'll have to look into the Ohio match as I didn't notice it. I was too occupied looking for PA locations.

I know Bee's well. My dad does a lot of his gunsmithing work for him. His shop is about five miles west of Bee's place. My dad's place is primarily a repair, rebluing, and custom shop - no retail sales to speak of. Most of his business is from other shops in the area, with some individual walk in work. I am trying to pick up the trade from him, but it takes time. With a "regular" job and a family, time is usually at a premium. It is nice having a full service shop, range, and hunting area available in the backyard though. [Linked Image]

I didn't know that McKean was now shooting IHMSA silhouettes. I know that they shot NRA matches previously. What weekend are they planning to shoot their matches. I already have a place to shoot on the first and second weekends of the month, but the third and fourth weekends are still open! [Linked Image]

They usually get things rolling at Burrell around 9AM, and shoot until the entries run out. It is one of the nicest silhouette ranges that I have shot at. It sure is nice to have it as my "home" club.

The Tusco range (Midvale, OH) shoots the first weekend of the month. I won't be around for the May shoot, but will probably be heading that direction for their June shoot. If you think you might want to go along, let me know.

I made it here. I too visit the accurate forums, I was there before Yahoo got trashed. This looks like a great replacement for the Yahoo visits.
Thanks Stush!!!
Regards
Rick
I joined this group after reading your post in the yahoo group. Man, they sure ruined that club. Happy to find this site.
Thanks for the tip.
