Just picked up a Carhart vest.

Huntsman had stated a while back that he used one, and that the inside pockets would hold a small handgun well.

He is right! My little Glock 43 fits in the inside pocket very well!

I put my wallet and keys in the pocket on the other side, to balance out the way the vest "hangs"

Thanks Huntsman!

Do you have a model number to see what you are talking about?

The fleece-lined duck vests, with or without the collar.

This style of fleece-lined coat has the same inner chest pockets.....

The outside pockets on these vests also work pretty well as holsters. Nice to have options when you are packin'

Love those vest, I got mine in an extra tall to help with concealment. Mine also has the stiffer lining which is great, it really helps to break up the profile and allows me to carry full size stuff without printing.
On at least some of them the back is a bit longer than the front so it helps cover a holster.

I do wish they made them unlined so I could wear one in warmer weather.

That red horse looks like it's about to take a chunk out of your ass.

I wear the same vest as that one about every day. Frontier brown, unfortunately they discontinued that color. Always a little something riding around in the inside pocket.
Posted By: huntsman22 Re: Carhart "carry" vest - 11/28/15
16.2. but feels like 17......
Mine is 'zactly like the one without the collar that Huntsman is "modeling" Only mine didn't come with a paint pony! (GRIN!)

Even the same color!

And I, also wish they made a light weight one for summer carry. These vests are GREAT!

They also make one that is rain "resistant"

Nothin better than seeing new country aboard a tall hoss!

This is shortgrass prairie. A smaller horse is just as easy to 'see' off of. And a whole lot easier to get on.......grin

Steelhead,

The vest you're wearing in the above photo isn't the one Huntsman is talking about!

No doubt these vests are handy on the ranch. But around here any vest, especially photog vests, scream "Shoot me first!".
Posted By: huntsman22 Re: Carhart "carry" vest - 11/30/15
I've never heard one talk, let alone 'scream'.....

Can you, or anyone else for that matter, cite one case where that has actually happened?

Huntsman, that looks like a really tall horn on that saddle.?

The smaller horse will also do much better in the rough rocky(big rocks)
mountain country BTDT. Sure miss my old curly stud. Cheers NC

Heck, our grass is so tall here at the Ranch after 36" of rainfall this year, that I'd have trouble finding a "short" horse in it! cool

Nice roping saddle, Huntsman.

I've still got my Great GrandDad's old saddle, Spurs, and bridle. It was my first saddle when I started riding at age 5. He busted Broncs for a living on the famous Four Sixes (6666) Ranch when he was a teenager, and his Dad was the chuckwagon cook, on roundups and drives.

My first horse was his last horse. A stud he raised from a Colt. Great GrandDad died when I was 6, and he was 86. The horse was 17 years old when I got him. 17 hands high, and I had to get him up beside the cow pens so I could climb on him. GrandDad would put me on him when we were working cows, and the old stud did all the work. I was pretty much just a passenger. grin

Love that area, Savuti. Did some good fishing there. You guys had a nice life without too much worry for a good while. Been hearing some of our local resident schitballs have taken up residence over there. Gotta suck. Hope it doesn't hurt the fishing when you drop their ass in a canal.
