Do any of you guys shoot the big 460?

I just picked one up, a 7.5" Performance Center. Nice pistol, and it's not as bad to shoot as I expected; I think some of my small 45 Colt Blackhawks were worse, with heavy loads. The blast is pretty fierce though.

I'll be handloading for it of course, and more mid-range stuff (think hot 45 Colt) than full power 460. Anybody have some good loads to share?
Never handloaded for mine before it went down the road. Too bad your not closer as i have a full case of 260gr win dual bonds still sitting here

Yondering, I got a bunch of 300 JSP' s from Midway few years ago. Using 13grns. Unique for about 1000 fps. Will use some filler next time, velocities are a little erratic. Very pleasant, but still loud! memtb

I think Gunner500 carries one as a back up

Hmm, we could maybe make a deal, depending where you are; I think you might have said once but I've forgotten. I'm up in Skagit county.
Oh shcitt, for some reason I thought you were in the east coast. I am in South King County.

Here is what I have:

I have no gun for it anymore so no use for it. I paid $650 for the case and will sell it for $350
Nice, that looks like a nasty round. Let me talk to a bud early next week, we might go in on that together. Price seems more than fair.

I'll probably work up some similar loads, but will crank up the velocity a couple hundred fps to raise the pressure for a good burn with Unique, but still keep it a relatively mild load. It's a pretty big case for relatively small charges of Unique, but I'd still rather use 460 brass for reduced loads than 45 Colt, with the big jump to the throats. I might try SR7625 too; it seems more consistent with small charges in big cases.

I mostly shoot my own cast loads though, and will probably use the Lee 300gr WFN GC most of the time; it was a great bullet in 45 Colt and 454. I did load and shoot one today over 37gr H110 and a CCI LR primer - it wasn't max pressure but penetrated completely through my 2 ft thick cedar backstop. The JHP loads don't do that!

laugh, Not today playa!
OK, 13gr of SR7625 under a 300gr cast TC bullet does ~1070 fps in my gun, and is very consistent. I like this better than the same load with Unique.
