It certainly sounds very tactical.

But to answer your question, no. Mostly because I'm very happy with my HPG Kit Bags. I can carry a pistol and lots of other stuff in a discrete, comfortable manner.

Seriously, I bought it for hunting. Its a PITA to carry a 6" barrel semi-auto on your belt when its 12 degrees and be able to get to it when you need it.

The company name may be somewhat too "tactical," but their product is very practical and well worth a look if you're going to run a chest/shoulder holster. I have one for one of my 4" S&W's and it is comfortable and easily used. Works great under a jacket or vest.

The fire finally sold me on a HPG kit bag and I love it.

I have not used one, but a couple of guides in elk camp this year had them and liked them. I'm seriously considering one for my HK USP 45.

I've not used one but I'm a fan of the HPG kit bag. Weight dispersion/comfort should be close so I'd guess it would be comfortable. The HPG kit bag gets used a lot, not just for carrying a gun, and it keeps a gun discreet and protected from dust. The GFI chest holster would be better if you needed a fast draw...but the HPG isn't slow.

I was just funnin' with you Chris. The dorky company name doesn't reflect on the design and quality of the holster. It looks like a comfortable design, with the obvious chest rig advantages.

I see that they're available via Amazon, which is dangerous for me to know.

There's a 10mm Glock in my future, and I'm currently leaning towards the G20, but the extra barrel and sight radius of the G40 is hard to argue against...........other than portability.

I knew you were... I learned that as good as CompTac holsters are for IDPA, they are not ideal for a hunting rig that weighs twice as much as my IDPA gun. It sucks getting it out of the holster with a deer at 20 yds looking at you.

IF I end up with the G40MOS instead of the 20, I may very well end up ordering a Kenai holster too.

I might give EPS a call too, and see if they can build a Tanker.

Another HPG kit bag user here. From kayaking to backpacking.

It works well for kayaking locally as people don't have any idea what it is.





What is both advantageous and dis-advantageous of the (stupidly expensive) Kenai rig is that it is not within a bag, like the HPG, run slick.

It would stand to reason that weapons presentation is going to be quicker with the Kenai, but also it is going to subject to both scrutiny and the weather, if worn openly.

Advantages and drawbacks.

If a guy really wanted, due to some of the HPG kit bags having molle on the front, a guy could simply attach a holster to the front, if super fast presentation was more important than protecting the handgun.





One thing I like about the HPG bag is that a guy can just drop various sizes of handguns in it with no real issue. I regularly have my G30S, and its belt holster right inside the main compartment.

Plus due to design a few other basics can be put in the pocket that is not designated for firearms use. I keep my hunting license, a lighter, small knife, truck key, pair of foam ear plugs,and a small flashlight in mine.

If I wanted a chest holster, I'm thinking I would still go with the Simply Rugged Chesty Puller system. Holster can be worn on the belt, or with the chest rig. Very versatile.

Not interested in leather, but the HPG bag isn't bad. The Kenai is about perfect for what I want to do with it.

What's the protocol for carrying a Glock in the HPG bag, do you use one of those Kydex trigger covers or mount a holster inside the pouch?

I'd be ecstatic if a holster was integrated into the back of my AGC bino pack.

I love and use the HPG but it is by no means a cure all.

I fail to recognize how the Kenia is "stupidly expensive."

But I've grown to love the trigger-guard-scabbard type deal.

How do you use it? Do you tether it off so it pops off when drawing the pistol from wherever it's stowed?

Here's an opened up view of the main compartment where a handgun is normally carried. The G21 uses up a lot of the available space, so I'm not sure if a G40 would fit. Adjusting the resting angle might make a fit.

I have a Kenai chest holster for my SRH. it is secure and comfortable. I like it. I did add a strap to connect holster to belt to prevent movement during draw...

but I give it a two thumbs up.

A couple more options from the Gunfighters Kenai rig would be El Paso Tanker, Diamond D Guides Choice and the Man Gear Alaska rig.

I think the 40 is only about 1.5" longer (9.5" vs 8" for G20). There should be enough room, the kit bag is 11.5" x 7.5" (thickness varies).

I ordered a Simply Rugged for mine. I haven't gotten it yet but it should be any day now.

I have had that rig for my Glock 40 for about two months and like it a lot for this pistol.
I bought one last year for a 1911 and it is a sweet rig also.
