Anyone had any issues with Herters 9mm ammo? My S&W Shield has been 100% reliable through several hundred rounds but I have had two recent malfunctions with two boxes of the Herters stuff from Cabelas. I think some of the stuff is a little under powered. This is a carry piece so I am hoping it is just the ammo. First time the shell fired and then was wedged in the ejection port like it just had enough energy to pull out of the chamber but not completely reach the ejector to be kicked out. Second time was the typical ‘stove pipe’.

I have not had any issues with any other cheap white box Winchester or other 9mm ammo I have picked up for cheap practice.
It might just be the ammo, but if their published velocities are accurate I doubt it. I wrote a fairly lengthy post about similar problems with a Shield, which S&W eventually replaced. I'd switch back to the ammo that was working and put at least another 3-400 rounds through it and see what happens.

This is one reason I don't trust a gun until it has at least 500 rounds through it.

Thanks Bluedreaux. I must have missed your post on this. I have shot at least 4 different loads through this and never had an issue before this Herter's stuff. I carry with Hornady critical Defense, and go to the range with whatever I can pick up cheap. The Hornady ammo did function fine for the 2 boxes I put through it. I now almost wonder if the spring is almost too stiff for moderate loads.

I have been real happy with the pistol up to these two bobbles.
