My wife and I were heading to Spokane to pick up two of our son's and their GF's for some time here in north Idaho. We were running early so she suggested a stop at the Post Falls Cabelas. I "walked" with this piece for $500. It appeared little used, carry up and lock up dead right, bore spotless with some holster wear. It is on its way to the Buda Texas store awaiting my return.

Nice find at a great price....

I have the later version of that gun with a fitted .22 Magnum cylinder and it is one of my favorite .22s....just the right size for the cartridge...

Now that is a sweet catch Sir.

Ed, that's a beauty, and you snagged it at a good price. smile

Nice. Congrats.

I'd buy it at that price immediately.

Very cool little .22, Ed. Congrats. Good price, too.

Great snag. I think the young ones like black rifles and hand guns. That leaves the nice ones for us older folks. Hasbeen

The S&W Forum guys say it's a .22/32 Heavy Frame Target made somewhere between Jan 1929 and March 1932. There is no "model number" stamped on it.

Wow, even better....

Nice, especially now that 22 ammo is readily available again.

Been doing a bit of research and clearly I stole it. Looks like it is a 1929 piece. The basic piece has a great history being requested on the larger I frame by a San Francisco gun dealer in 1911. Imagine that... First issued in 1911 so fit and finish is dead nuts. I can't wait to get back home, swing by Cabelas and shoot it.

That's quite the find Ed.

I bet the grips match the gun too.

Lucky you. You should have bought a lottery ticket the same day. laugh I still have the K-22 that I bought in the early 60's, that's one gun I never will sell.

Goes to show, there are still treasures out there for those that keep their eyes open. Good find.

I expect them too. A penciled number on the grips.

EdM: Great score for you!
You beat me to that gun by about 24 hours!
I stopped there on my way home (east/bound) to Montana on August 17th and would have bought that nifty pistol in an instant had it still been there.
Good for you.
I had been out to the west coast chasing guns last week - I wish I would have stopped in (w/b) seven days prior.
Nothing came my way compared to your treasure.
Keep after'em.

That's an "I" frame S&W in 22 LR commonly called a "Bekaert Model"

Some good deals to be had at cabelas if you can wade through the overpriced stuff
Posted By: EdM Re: New Piece - 08/29/17
I picked it up today and sure enough the grips have the SN properly marked in pencil. It appears they have never been off the piece nor any screws turned.

Where's the like button. Congrats Ed, sweet piece

Gorgeous pistol! Just looking at the inletting inside that grip shows that it is not a machine cut piece.

Now the important question...how does she shoot? grin

I have been spending my time shooting my 416 prepping for an upcoming hunt. Maybe this week.
