Am wondering what opinions seasoned hand gunners have regarding one of these. Its not my first semi auto, other than my LC9, all my semis are striker fired. I was looking for a full size DA/SA spurred 40 cal. and this is what I impulsively settled on, a new model from local chain store. Courteous, respectful, honest responses are appreciated. Really like this site, thanks in advance.

It's a really great gun for a great price. The 2022 replaced the Beretta 92 as the standard service pistol for France, and their national Law Enforcement went to it as well. Same thing for Colombia. In Switzerland its the issue pistol of their national police.

Think of it as a 229 with lighter weight, and a whole lot easier on the pocketbook.

Pretty much what GG said. I had one in 9mm, but sold it here on the Fire. Wish I had it back now, since no finer handgun can be found at the price I bought it for. I kept my 229, but it shoots no better and really, carries no easier.

I have a SigPro in .40 and a 2022 in 9. Phenomenal pistols at a yard sale price. They may lack some very small refinements but the Sig quality is still there.

I bought both for $400 each used at the same shop in 2015. I have yet to have ANY problems with either.

I have a Sig Pro in a 40 and ever time I go shoot it I wonder why i don’t shoot it more. Very nice trigger and then accuracy is super. I’ve compared it to my P226 and see many similarity just like a P226 lite. One of the great values out there.

I had the basic model in 9mm. It was ok.

My wife carries a 2022 in 40 with her in the mountains and loves shooting it.

The SIG SP2022 is a "sleeper". A great pistol at a great price but not too popular for some reason, overshadowed by the Glock I should think. It's pretty accurate, extremely reliable and has a very good trigger, but magazines are $40! I have the 9mm, but will get it in 40cal eventually. Don't hesitate SCgman1, you won't go wrong with this handgun.

Thanks for the responses. Google search can uncover mixed opinions concerning "made in usa" vs "made in Germany". This model caught my eye years ago at a great price for a 9mm. I saw where academy sports in my area had (usa) 40s available and I have been wanting to add a 40 to the arsenal. It's regular price was $50 cheaper than anywhere else, and it was in stock. Probably should've waited till after the first of the year but what the heck.

My daughter has one in 9mm, it's a nice pistol. She looked at probably 10-12 different handguns & shot a few as well, before settling on her Sig-Sauer.

One gripe, the factory installed sights printed groups quite high @ 50' & 25 meters. I tried 115, 124 & 147 grain ammo, they all shot high. Had this same problem on 2 separate Para Ordnance 45 acp 1911.

I had her send it in for a check up & they installed their Sig night sights with a taller front sight. Problem solved.

One thing I noticed while shooting it last month is the thing is a tackdriver! Very accurate for a service weapon, was fairly easy to score hits out to 50 meters. Of couse 100% reliable as well.
