I don't have pictures yet and I don't have any details people have mentioned like lock, mountain gun bbl, dash or no dash, stainless or blue. Waiting on pics and more info. Hard to get over Christmas.
The biggest variable is probably the lock or the lack thereof. People don't like the key lock that S&W has put on their revolvers since a Clinton-era lawsuit because they can self-activate. There is an easy fix by just removing the lock parts, but it leaves a hole in the sideplate. A less easy fix is to buy an aftermarket plug for said hole. The only difference then between a lock gun and a no-lock is the usually somewhat discolored plug. Another evidently unmentioned variable is the presence of MIM parts as opposed to the old forged ones. There are varying thoughts, but most believe the older guns to be of somewhat better quality than MIM guns. The biggest "dash" issue is whether the gun is a -4 or above. This indicates it is somewhat stronger due to some replaced parts known as enhancements. All -4's and up have them. Some -3's do. Stainless or carbon steel guns differ in price mainly when they're new, not so much when used. People love the Mountain Gun but honestly there is no much difference between an MG and a plain 4" barreled 29/629. The Mountain Guns have slimmer barrels resulting in a bit less weight to tote.
