John Browning knew something about making a fighting handgun.

Fat meet sleek. I had a 226 for a short time. I sold it and moved to a 1911. I now have a CZ 75 compact. 1911 ergonomics and a great grip. The CZ seems like the baby that Browning’s high power and 1911 never had. The sig, while a finely constructed pistol, was the ugly sibling as my liking goes.

I have a 1943 Colt. JMB sure didnt place much emphasis on the sights. Though I guess it didn't matter much in a trench or fox hole at night.

I agree. The big Sgs just don't fit my hand well (maybe a 228 would). The 1911 does fit well.

You explained it nicely. Most newer guns feel like bricks even if lighter weight. Those ww2 1911’s actually feel slimmer than the new 1911’s today. They just come up and shoot nicely. Very accurate even with those basic sights
