This came flying in the door outta the blue on a barter deal tonight last night, not sure of value. Any Ideas, even ball park? Does not appear to have ever been fired.

The Florida Highway Patrol 50th Anniversary (1939-1989) Commemorative revolver it's a Smith and Wesson Model 686. There were 394 made. It has checkered wood handles with scroll engraving on both sides of the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The F.H.P. badge is engraved on the right rear side of the frame above the handle, "1 of 394" is engraved on the right side of the frame above the trigger, "Florida Highway Patrol" in a scroll is engraved on the right side of the barrel, and "1939 Fiftieth Anniversary 1989" is engraved on the right side of the ejector guard under the barrel. Solid wood case inlaid with velvet with a wood top.
I have no idea on the value but do know that those kind of commemoratives have limited interest. It would only appeal to collectors of police commemoratives or people who were in the department.

True. But it's still a fine 686. Around here to a collector probably $1000 and maybe up. As just a 686 in the $650- $800 range.
Thanks,

I found a little information on a Florida Highway Patrol forum board where an old post from 2010 insinuated one sold for 750 another for 1k.
Being the CF forums are rather searchable online and this post may pop up on someones search in the future due to the subject line, I'm going to recommend anyone desiring to sell one these to make a post in the FHP forums.
