Haven't had one in a while, and I fell in love with this 4" equipped with a full on Pimp-Kit (Nickle & Ivory). I'm a sucker for bright nickle.

Nice. Sold my last Python a couple of years ago. Couldn't resist the prices they were going for. Still have my four inch Model 357 Colt, though, which is identical to a Python in every respect other than the barrel, which is a plain bull barrel design. Finish, fit, quality, etc.. is the same. It was the Python before they came out with the Python, i.e., their Cadillac .357 Magnum revolver. I don't guess I'll sell that one.

Is adoption an option😂
Posted By: marktheshark Re: Python's are fun! - 11/24/19
Thats a nice one!! Sold my Python and King Cobra about 8 years ago due to an offer that was too good to pass up. Regret it ever since. Will own one of each again!

I've had this for awhile. Bought it, even though I didn't want it, because it was so cheap. I had intended to turn it into a bullseye gun but never got around to finishing it. I sent it back to Colt for an action tune, found a new 6" barrel and Elliason sights for it but didn't get the 6" barrel and sights installed. Probably a good thing, as it now sits in its box unmolested and unfired, with a Colt action tune (and the paperwork) to go with it. Could be the next project gun.

I also got a stellar deal on an eight inch Python back in the 1990s. I bought it new for less than dealer cost, so couldn't resist. I worked at a small gun shop, and the owner had this gun (acquired new) in his display case for years, and was desperate to get rid of it. I can't remember how much I paid, but it was way under the going price, and I figured it would be worth buying if only for an investment. I kept it for a year or so, then sold it at a small profit, unfired. Had I kept it till today, I would likely have tripled my money.

The Colt 357 is an outstanding revolver. A much better police revolver back in the day than the Python IMO. I hope to add a 357 or first model Trooper to my collection someday.

While I love the looks of the long barrel Python's, I have never much liked the balance. They are wicked accurate for sure though, and a 6" Python would be a great bullseye gun. The 8" guns seem to be more for the collectors rather than the shooters. Sell it, and buy the Python you want.

When I had my 6" blued Python, we just never clicked. But every time I picked up a 4" the tuning fork just kinda went off. So when this opportunity came about, I pounced. And I ended up with EXACTLY the Python I always lusted for. Now I plan on completely ruining its collector value by shooting the living snot out of it. I hope when I die and my kids pick it up, its on its last leg and about to fall apart:)

Why not shoot them , enjoy them

Maybe someone could do a SLO MO video of the fun one is having with their Python. It would show in SLO MO the expression on the face and quivering that starts at ones feet as it moves to the top of their head. It could also show the shooter as he reaches his pinnacle of excitement with his exclaiming loudly in his loud screams as the excitement reaches its climax as the shooter drops to his knees and swoons as his eyes roll back in his head.

Congrats KG. It is a nice specimen with uncommon grips. I've owned Pythons in 8, 6 and 4". Never had the 2" model. Current 357's here are the wife's Detective Special and my Highway Patrolman in 4" trim. Don't need a Python but would probably get one anyway if I won the lottery.

Nice stuff gents. My one and only Colt revolver bought cheap as it has, obviously, been refinished. It resides in Idaho and is a joy to shoot. IIRC it has the same action as the Python.

Yes, it does, though likely lacking the refinement given to the action when they produced either the Model 357 or Python, both of which were intended as Cadillac offerings.

Is it OK if I post this picture again? (and I do have the original stocks)

I think it's time to take it out for a spin again.

Mine looks just like that. Bright SS.

Factory rubber though.
Never liked them, too big.

"Electroless Nickel", not shiny, kind of frosted looking.

Colt DA pistols are great, that's the reason Ed McGivern and Jerry Miculek used them to set speed shooting records.

Are you sure about that? I believe they both favored S&W revolvers.

If faster is your definition of better, we’ll I guess we know why you prefer S&W’s.
