Anyone have one of the new 648s? This gun intrigues me

Pacecars: I don't own a Smith & Wesson Model 648 but I do own several Smith & Wesson Model 48's in 4" 6" and 8 3/8" sizes.
I also own (and shoot a lot!) a Smith & Wesson Model 647 in caliber 17 HMR.
This particular stainless 6 shot revolver with 8 3/8" barrel is extremely accurate and extremely fun to shoot.
I don't shoot my older Smith & Wesson Model 48's (22 Magnums) as they are simply to valuable collector wise (IMO) to take afield.
I was hoping others would comment on this newish Model 648 and will be checking in on this thread.
So back to top for you.
Oh and if you decide to buy one and shoot it be sure to wear ear protection!

To the OP: I would love to wring one of these pistols out on Jackrabbits. I have had a chance to handle a couple of them in the shop. I have not shot them, but whenever I do, I think of driving around in Texas, shooting JackRabbits. Not sure what else I'd do with that pistol, and I can't think of anything else it is more perfect for. The trigger is good in the ones I have held, and I have no doubt they shoot like rifles.

John Taffin answered me on another site and said it was a great pistol and he has an article II it coming up in American Handgunner

I was thinking squirrels and maybe Called in Coyotes. I would assume it would give you long rifle velocity out of the short barrel and cylinder gap

I'd like to try one, but I have a 6" 617 and hate the balance, by far my least favorite revolver.

I've got 4" and 6" 48s, 5x Rossi 515s, and an old Single Six that I bought with just the .22 Mag cylinder for $105 at a pawn shop in Salina, KS, back in 1982.

The Rossis were a great kit gun when you could buy them for around $250, much better than any Taurus that I've ever handled and/or shot.
