Who has one of these? I have handled them in the LGS and seem reasonably well made. I like the red dot versions and would like input from those who have them. Thanks.

my buddy won one a few years ago and we both thought it was a POS. then we shot it and it shot amazingly well for such a cheap gun. it is what it is but for a cheap gun, its decent.

I spent some time with a SCCY - nice little pistol. Best in class waranty.

As long as you realize what it is, a "save your butt" gun, not a range toy, you'll be happy.

Bought one about 3 years ago as a cheap truck gun. Called it my jam-o-matic, fail to feed 2-3 times per mag no matter the brand of factory ammo or reloads. SCCY sent me new mags thinking it would correct the problem which it didn’t.

After that it sat in the safe for a few months until I got bored and decided to play with it. I loaded up some dummy rounds and upon working the slide I noticed that the rounds seemed to hang up on the extractor upon feeding.

Called their customer service, explained the issue and asked for a new extractor. They offered to pay both ways to return it, but I declined. They sent a new extractor out plus 2 more new mags free of charge to the door in 3-4 days. This cured the jam-o-matic. Old extractor on the left was noticeably larger than the new.






They have excellent CS.
I now see where Mcarbo is offering a spring kit to cut the pull down to 4 lbs. + shorten the trigger reset Which would be fantastic as it seems to be the main issue after a 1000 rounds with no jams.
All in all it’s accurate and fun to shoot and could be a good carry gun by curing the trigger.
Also Galloway Precision is offering replacement short stroke triggers and spring kits.

When youngest daughter was working night shift mom and I bought her one. Next day took it to the range. Second shot the trigger would not return. Took it home and disassembled it. There was some sort of heavy grease all over th trigger assembly and something that looked like pocket lint. I cleaned it and and lightly oiled it and went back to the range. In the first 2 or 3 magazines it had a couple of ftf and fte. After the first 50 rounds never had another problem of any kind. We put between 2000 and 2500 rounds through it before it was stolen. We have a spinning raven target that at 10 yards that was spun regularly with it. I gave $225 for the gun, 3 mags a soft foam pistol bag and 100 rounds of ammo. For an economical gun I think it is a good one. If $225 was all I had to spend I would buy another and not worry about it for self defence. I would definitely dissemble it first and make sure it wasnt gunked up.

I can not think of a single reason I would trust a SCCY with my life. There is a reason they are cheap. If I was getting robbed and I pulled a Sccy out in self defense, I would expect the robber to give me $10, a hug and promise to put me on his prayer list.

I carry G26, Kimber, Walther and a few others that cost more, but if all I had was the money for a SCCY then that’s better than nothing. Damn man if you can’t post something pertinent don’t post, keep your fugging mouth shut. That’s something the flavor hasn’t learned.

I've had one around 6 years or so. My daughters CCW gun has been a Sccy for a few years. Ours have been perfectly dependable for 1000's of rounds. The Sccys are pretty accurate for a cheap
little pistol. The triggers are long and heavy but these aren't really range guns even though I've punched a lot of holes in paper at the range with mine. I put a laser on mine and my daughters.
Most of the ammo. I've put through mine has been ball but I've shot a few hollow points out of it to make sure they'd feed well, no problem.

That’s not being a gun snob, that’s just making good decisions. I have shot the sccy. I worked on a government range. Vendors always brought guns by. Somehow one of these got dropped off. Several instructors shot it. There was nothing about that gun that would lend itself to a defensive role. Being cheap should not be the primary concern. If money is an issue, police trade in Glock 22’s and new S&W shields can be had for the same or very close. Buy a used gun, save more money or whatever. This is something you are betting your life on.

If you can explain why a cheap gun with a horrible trigger and a poor reputation for reliability is a good choice, I will gladly apologize and retract any statement I have made. The intent of this is not to hurt anyones feelings or to "troll up a response". I only point out that there are issues with using that firearm in that particular role.

i have had no issues with the SCCY i carry ,i do like the size and the safety. bigger pistols are hard to hide in the summer. i also have a small Taurus revolver 38 special that hides well too,also a derringer 410 3 inch . summer time is when a person needs a small hideable type pistol and the SCCY does work fine.

Again LMAO, having shot many a pistol from all the manufacturers not many have ever put out a 100% perfect gun every damn time. My G26 gen4 is a second choice for a carry gun why, because to me the trigger fugging sucks compared to my any of my 1911’s.
Tried all their different grips and no matter what the thing would bite my finger on recoil, 115 of any flavor hit low left, 147 of any flavor was high and right after a lot of trial and error 124 would match poi to poa. Still bit my finger had to go to a plus 2 extender and then sand on those to stop the bite, but at least it now comes up to a natural center mass draw. 500+ bucks and I had to fugging work on it to make it right. As far as the trigger it still sucks IMO but damn they sell all kinds of parts.
Now since I changed the extractor since you missed it, the SCCY has 1000 rounds of failure free shooting, poi match’s poa. Hasn’t ever bit me on recoil like the Grock and feels better in the hand than my 500+ Grock. Does it need trigger work, yes.
But you show me any handgun at twice or more the price that doesn’t need something, absolutely perfect out of the box, I will buy it.
If and when you actually have some input other than I worked at a police range and have shot one of what, maybe 50 rounds if that, get back to me. Until then you are a gun snob and flipping BS.

I have several handguns and have been a shooter for most of my 58 years.

That said, I like to experiment with less expensive guns. I bought a Taurus 605 and am pleasantly surprised at the accuracy and reliability. I also bought a SCCY just to see what it was all about. Same story as the Taurus: Accurate and I haven't had a single malfunction in over 500 rounds.

True, I am more likely to carry one of my Sigs, but I have found no fault in reliability or accuracy with the SCCY.

My cousin's husband has one. They seem well made. No way I'd trust my life with a cheap gun, though.

I know two guys that have sccy pistols. Both like them and shoot them well.

Operator error. Sorry bud. They are as accurate as any Kahr made which tend to be very accurate. The very newest SCCY"S come with like a 5.2 pd trigger pull, slimmer , trimmer. They just keep getting better and nothing trumps it per price.

Interesting summation, but not very accurate. Mine has a 7 lb 3 oz trigger pull. Slight creep, overall travel from pressure to hammer break is 1/2”. The trigger bar doesn’t reset to the hammer until 99% forward travel of the trigger including the creep. But since you say they are now 5.2 I got some new factory springs and trigger parts on the way from SCCY to try, also ordered a spring kit from MCarbo.
I never said it wasn’t accurate those were your words, either way it’s never going to make it into my carry rotation. I have a Kimber 1911 first, G26 second, Beretta PX4 storm, PPK or a 4” GP100 that would go with me before it.
