I have a 17HMR. It’s less than 2 years old and the mag is already trashed. Open the bolt and all the shells eject.

Is this a common flaw with their mags? Is there a fix? I bought two replacements yesterday, a 5 and 10 shoot.

It's not UNcommon, I loathe their magazines, period. I bought a 93R17 some years back, and danged if the magazine wasn't trash then, too. I literally gave that rifle away, although the rifle itself shot quite well. My buddy liked it a lot, but he bitched about the magazine, too.
I already had a Marlin HMR, and comparing the magazines was like comparing apples to turnips, no comparison whatsoever. I still have that old Marlin, and the magazines I liked then are no comparison to the CZs I'm using now. Magazines are a big deal, and the better the magazines, the happier you'll be.

Ive struggled with magazines for my older 22 WMR. At least 3 replacements so far. All are unreliable Had the rifle for years. It shoots really well especially with the older Win 40gJHP’s. Won’t get rid of it but hesitate recommending one for anyone else.

Thats strange. I've never had issues with the mags in my 93R17. You know that style of magazine has been around since the sixties. I have a Mossberg chuckster with the original magazine and don't have issues with that one either.. and its the same design. Are they as good as a Ruger rotary mag? Hell no.. but they usually run flawlessly. I don't like how they release from the rifle, but that's about the only problem I've seen from using them...Rifles are extremely accurate. Shot my 93R17 yesterday at our annual turkey shoot and faired well enough, even against the 10-22s.. We changed it up with a golf ball shoot yesterday, which requires both speed and precision. Not one hiccup feeding or ejecting from the Savage 93. Moral of that story: I personally wouldn't be using it to shoot rapid fire against ruger 10-22's If I didn't trust it to work.

My 93/17 has had a couple thousand rounds through it & I started seeing mag problems this year. The feed lips seem to be soft & easily deformed.

I had to open the lips on one, close on the other. A few more mags on hand would help, but not cheap to be such a dinky thing. I've considered buying a Ruger Predator mainly because of the mag style. If the Salvage didn't put 5 in 5/8 of an inch at a hunnert, I would have already done it.
