I've lucked into a couple deals on skeleton stocked 77/22 mags lately and wondered what everyone's views were about these compared to the newer all-weathers.
Pros and cons?
Thanks!
I have no experience with the newer all weathers. I own a stainless skeleton stock M77 in .22 mag with iron sights. Nope, its not for sale either!

It's accurate, lightweight and a ton of fun to shoot.

Maybe someone else will pipe in on the newer models...
I have 3 skeleton stock Rugers in .22 LR, .22 Magnum and .30/06. My heirs may sell them someday, but I never will. The .22 Magnum has accounted for about 3,000 prairie dogs, including one at a lasered 440 yards. Don't ask me if it was on my first shot.

Actually it was, but nobody would ever believe me. It was either the luckiest shot I ever made, or the unluckiest prairie dog that God ever made.

Atta boy. That would be one helluva shot. How much holdover did you use that far out with a .22 Mag?
Thanks for the replies.

Not to derail my own thread, but did they ever make a 77/.357 in the skeleton stock?
I have one in the all-weather, but can't remember seeing a skeleton.
No, the skeleton stock was never used on the 77/357 or the 77/44.
