Came across of these in nice condition. I know little about them because ive never owned one. Ive read about their production lifespan and that they allow a really short lever throw.

Anyone here have spent any time with the 57? The one i found is nice and its proportioned to fit an adult and has a longer 24" barrel. It looks like a decent little rifle.

Back when I was a kid, I had one. The trigger pull was in excess of 15 lb. Dad thought the safety was stuck on. He modified the trigger so that it was usable. It was accurate. I shot that gun so much that it started to fall apart, powder would shoot back into my eye. I sold it for parts.
I would never by one again, ever!

I know a guy that has used one for lever silhouette and it is extremely accurate he’s done quite well in the pistol cartridge category and has shot thousands of rounds through it. He really likes it and I’ve been tempted to get one for that game as sometimes it’s difficult to keep that many rounds loaded for the matches. He’s not had any problems like mentioned by the previous post and not sure what had to happened to allow gases to came back at the shooter - the breech bolt is steel and so is the barrel, lock up is similar to a Savage 99 - maybe a headspace issue that manifested over time?

Just picked up a model 56 thanks to a member on here 😊 and have had a 62 for years - I kinda like them. The trigger typically does need some attention but both are more accurate than you might expect.

Great rifle! I have a 57M, and a 56 22lr. Both are great shooters, around 1/2" to 3/4" at 50, around 1.5 at 100. The 56 trigger is a bit better, but both break very clean. I do have decent glass on both. That helps.

I have a 62 in .256 Winchester that I really like a lot. Trigger pull is not an issue, although I bought it used and it could have been addressed by a previous owner. The lever throws on those Marlins is really short, almost too short if you're accustomed to a Winchester 94, Marlin 336 or Savage 99. Takes a bit of getting used to.
