Good evening, I have recently purchased a kimber 82 22lr basically new in the original box. It has a 8000 serial number and kimber of Oregon inc. clackmas Oregon. stamped on the barrel. I am trying to find a approximate manufacturer date and a little history on the rifle, Hoping some one here mite be able to help.

you might want to try posting your question at rimfirecentral.com - they have a Kimber sub-forum and possibly someone there may be able to help you

Webbedfeet: I have several Kimber of Oregon unfired, purchased new by me, Rifles - I have a set of KOA Rifle models with serial # 169.
Seeings I never fired them I did not enter them in my shooting log book as I do most all my Rifles.
But I believe I bought them in 1980.
And I have a Kimber of Oregon Model 82-B in caliber 218 Bee with serial # B185 that I bought new and do shoot it - and it was entered in my shooting/handloading log book in 1985.
I am not sure how the serialization interfaced with the Model 82 rimfires and the Model 82-B small caliber centerfires - I am guessing they were separate?
Anyway I hope this meager bit of information may help somehow.
Good luck in your information quest.
Enjoy your Rifle - they were/are top quality guns!

Thanks for the replys, All the information I have found seems to be all over the place regarding the early kimber models. While I continue researching I am going to enjoy shooting it. I found a 2.5x8x32 ziess conquest for it and cant wait for a break in the wind to shoot it.

Webbedfeet: That will be a first class rig - I hope it shoots well for you.
And I am in the same boat - waiting for the wind to calm down so I can sight in my new to me minty Belgium Browning T-Bolt in 22 L.R.
I am on day 19 (nineteen) waiting for "calm air" for this Rifle.
My Browning T-Bolt came with a compact 4 power gloss Leupold on it and it looks VERY good and very "balanced".
I am debating (during my impatience here) with replacing the compact 4 power Leupold with a gloss finish 3x9 Leupold "compact" with adjustable objective and E.F.R. feature (Extended Focus Range).
The "swap" would only take minutes and the only thing holding me up is the significant value of the rare Leupold 3x9 compact with A/O and EFR.
Come July of 2,022 I am going to be selling the Browning anyway and I might be better off leaving things as is in anticipation of the big sell-off come July?
Be sure and let us know how it shoots if you get out.

Being one of the folks that spends a lot of time on the Kimber RFC forum, your request would likely be fulfilled over there. Things like the shape of the bolt handle and presence of a bolt stop will help narrow things down.
