I am looking at one of these, CZ457 17HMR, with a 24” sporter weight barrel at my local shop. The wood is awesome and it is a beautiful rifle.

I was wondering if anyone has this rifle and can give me any information on it.

I have Tikka T1Xs in 22 and 17HMR and that is what I’m gonna be comparing the accuracy to.
Only with the rifle, not the cartridge. i’m a big fan of the platform.
I’ve seen but have not shot a 457. Seems from both formal and informal reviews they are improved from earlier CZ rimfire versions. I can comment on a 455 purchased in 17HMR. It is very accurate! Especially with a particular lot of Federal Premium ammo. At one time a lot of Hornady ammo was equal but that brick is now gone.
The 457s are refined a good bit compared to the earlier models, and I’ve owned two 455s and a 453, and now own a 457 MTR. The 457 is nicer in several ways, but I wouldn’t claim that any of them are going to be more accurate than the others. Good thing about the 455 and 457 is that you can replace a barrel you’re not happy with with either a factory one or aftermarket. All are tough to acquire now IME.

Pretty wood is a bonus. I’d grab it.
Barrel swap is a cool feature on the 455s and 457’s. Do the 455 swap frequently. Trouble I have with them that the 457 seems to address is bolt throw. Was tough to get that functional although still not right. Scope has to be too high, for me anyway. There are other issues with the 452,455’s that have been pointed out frequently. My biggest issue was the bolt interface with scope bell. Glad the 457’s look to have corrected this and look forward to working with one. Again, I have been more than pleased with the accuracy of all CZ rimfires it’s been my pleasure to shoot.
Picked it up today.
What is the best way to mount a scope on these?
Using just the rings or getting a base and rings?

I like the DIP rail, and rings.
I bought the Area 419 for mine because I liked the attachment better, however the opening in the underside that allows the rail to clamp from the sides has sharp corners that catch the empties as they eject and bounce them back into the action. Have a piece of tape blocking that now, but need to come up with something that’s not so hillbilly.

The built-in level looks nice, but is useless while aiming.

BKS, that’s a real pretty one. I signed up for a American Varmint stock to drop my MTR in, but who knows when that boat will sail? Just about everything on their site for the 457s is out of stock.
Thanks for the replies.

I would have probably bought an MTR if one was local, got “disenchanted” with my last online purchase and want to see guns in person for a while now before buying.

Seems everything, about everywhere is out for 457s. I found a set of BKL rings and ordered them.

The only scope I have free right now is a 5x20x50 Vortex, probably gonna be too big for the rifle but it will have to do for now.
The listing I bought from had actual pics, including the barrel inletting. Some early ones were lopsided, or so I’ve read.

I enjoy it, but my 10/22 CSC is nearly as accurate, lighter, and more fun.
Put the big scope I had on it and it was just too big for my liking. So I ordered a Meopta Optika 5, it is a 1” tube, 4-20x44. Excellent glass. Mounted in Leupold High CZ Rimfire rings
I’ve added a trigger spring from CZNUT on here and the trigger is absolutely great.

Hope to shoot it tomorrow.

Sorry for junked up picture.

Nice looking rig
Nice rifle. I have a Lux, American and FS, and have owned the Royal, but the Americans are my favorite.
