Went into Cabelas today for a gun case and left with a Henry. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s not a 39. They had a 39 in their library for the cool price of $1400! My boys will stomp around the woods, wack bunnies with it, and won’t know the difference. I’ll get it sighted in next weekend and see how it shoots. Seems pretty like a smooth action and at 4.5#s it’ll be easy to carry. Should be a fun little lever for under 4 bills.

Not many options these days for lever 22's. The Chiappa looked even cheaper to me, and I wasn't going to pay a premium for a 39. I will say the action seems real smooth on the little Henry. Looking forward to shooting it.

Henry's are great guns all around. Their 22's are perfect IMHO, especially for the price.

I've got a golden boy and a frontier. Both shoot well, and the action is smooth. I owned a 39a when I was younger. They're grossly overpriced

My oldest son Loves his GoldenBoy. It gets a workout! A close friend has one and likes it fine too. My experience is with an older “standard version”. Flawless function and solid a accuracy with a variety of brands. My only complaint would be regarding the plastic parts. I understand Henry now offers metal replacements, just havnt got around to contacting them.

I never was a huge Henry fan, but recently picked a couple new ones. A Small Game Rifle is 22LR and the Classic in 22WMR. I haven't gotten around to shooting either one yet, but they're starting to grow on me the more I look at them

I took it out yesterday to see how it shoots. I realized real quick how fugged my eyes have become. When I was kid, all I used was iron sights. Now it’s a fuzzy mess. Really kinda sucked. I hate to put a scope on it but not sure of any other option if I’m gonna shoot it at all. Best I could manage was about 2” groups at 25yds. Definitely minute of bunny, but I’ve got to figure it can do better.

Peep sight and fiber optic front work great for my old eyes.

You could try something like a Burris fastfire on the rifle

That would be an option for the kids to use, and I have one sitting around. Unfortunately, my astigmatism screws me up using red dots. I'll probably toss on an old Bushnell 1.5x4 I've had since I was a kid for now.

If the scope doesn’t work out try the peep option. Good friend of mine put one on the Golden Boy we got him as a retirement present and he loves it. Think he bought one from Skinner???? His eyesight is awful but with the peep he’s having success and fun squirrel hunting and just plinking around the farm.

I’d trade my Marlin 783 for a Henry lever 22 Mag in a heartbeat.

The 39M is here for the duration.

The 783 has a VX-Hog 1-4x20 and the 39M uses a Vari-X II 2-7. They’re a goof fit that don’t add much bulk to the little rifles.

I got a set of fiber optic sights from Henry, and they make a world of difference
