Any of you guys have one? I ran across one for a little more than $300.00 (can probably get it for $325.00 locally). It's in pretty good condition. It's a heavy barrel target rifle with a nice looking bore. Original bluing about 98% condition. Comes with the original steel mag. For those that have this particular model, how do they shoot? Just by looking at it, it looks like it will be a tack driver. I researched these and most of them have a walnut stock, but this one has a birch stock. It has the dovetail for scope mounts. Looks like a pretty sweet little target rifle to me. Looks similar to this one, sans the rear aperture sight:

Any info appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks for the link. It is a good read. I guess there are some guys out there that like them? I'll go into town tomorrow. Heck, it's only $300.00, or thereabouts. I spent that much at McDonalds the other day!!

It's at a LGS. On consignment. There's also an older CZ trainer next to it in the rack. I didn't even ask to look at that one because I figured I'd probably buy them both. Probably on consignment from the same guy.

The trainer isn't interesting, unless it is a TGF model 1. But that model 3 is desirable.

Mine is a ‘51 Model 3, shoots terrific. Better than I can point it.
Mine does not have a set trigger, but I believe that some do.

Just one other thing...is it a Stetcher?

Ok buddy. It looks great to me. The tag says CZ BRNO, but on the barrel, it says BRNO MODEL 3. I like how the barrel and receiver are both grooved. Looks cool and it does look like it's a shooter. I like the heavy barreled target rifles, so it's almost a no brainer. Just wanted to see what you rimfire guys thought. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the info. This one has a single trigger. Not sure if it's a set trigger though.

I don't know what a Stecher is, would it be marked as such?

Have a look at the muzzle, if it appears to have a wee small portion of barrel sticking out and has two triggers (set trigger) it is a Stetcher.

Like hens teeth though.

Either way I would not let it go.

Thanks for the info. I don't think it's a Stetcher then.

I've yet to meet an old BRNO .22 that didn't shoot superlatively.

You sure it's a birch stock? Betcha it's a beechwood stock. Every bit as good/stable, if not more so, than a walnut stock just not as pretty.

After doing some research, I see they used Beech and walnut. Not a wood guy, 4th generation steel worker buddy.. Beech, birch, all the same to me..

Birch: soft, plain, not terribly stable. Often found on the lowest grade factory .22's and the like.

Beech: hard, very stable, not much if any figure (but often with pretty medullary rays when quartersawn). Europeans liked using it more than we did.

Thanks gnoahhh. Beech seems like a better wood to use then. If I remember right, some of the Remington 788's had Birch stocks. This one looks similar. Someone did a poor job trying to refinish it. Wondering if beech wood does not accept stain well? If I end up buying the rifle, I will refinish the stock. The metal and bluing are in very good condition though. I looked at it again yesterday. Thanks..

You should have already bought it. I bet those sights will bring close to $300 on RFC.

It does NOT have the rear aperture sight Clark.
