Is it just me or have all my fellow 22 junkies forgotten about this nifty little rifle,I was showing it to my Bro-inlaw who has a walk in gun safe and he thought it was an import.
I keep it at the ready all year long, haven't cleaned it in years and it out shoots everything else I own (14 other 22's).

I own about forty .22s. I have 2 Remington 121s and 1 572. I think the Fieldmasters are very good rifles. I am going to buy one of the older Lightweights. (aluminum receiver)
I don't have a 572 but I do have a 121, the forerunner to your 572. I shot it today and had a blast....I like the remmy pumps, never a bobble.

My very first .22 was a M572 Fieldmaster; bought in 1962.. Still have it and it's still about 95% condition..

I have no idea how many rounds have gone down the tube, but let's just say it may take a sizable pickup to haul the lead...

They all have aluminum receivers. Remington made some with a steel sleeved aluminum barrels. Those were the real lightweights!

Yep - I had the aluminum barreled one. Light as a feather - and very accurate too. I traded it back to the guy that sold it to me originally, and missed it ever since. Wish they would make 'em again...
I puchased one in the 90s for use in our local fun match called Rapid Fire Rimfire. Each action style (auto, pump, lever, & bolt) had progressively higher handicapping. I thought the beautiful little 572 might be a ringer. I mounted a Williams peep sight on it that employs the rifle's tip-off grooves.

Maybe I was too vigorous in my operations but the operating rod bent and I sent it back to the factory. They repaired it and sent it back.

I was going to take it into battle again and my best friend suggested I sell it to him before I ruin it again. I took him up on it. He plinks with it about once a year - calls it his lazer beam - loves it. All is well that ends well.
I've got a real nice one I've been thinking about selling. The thing that holds me back is it is one of the most accurate .22's I've ever held. Keep your eyes on the classifieds if your looking for one I may be posting it in the near future.

I've got my childhood 572. It's got real nice wood on it. I don't think I have shot it since I was a teenager and frankly didn't realize these rifles are regarded as inherently accurate.

Do any of you guys have a scope mounted? Suggestions or a scope?

Always wanted one growing up just never did get one! Might have to remedy that someday! They were a great rifle!
I bought one today. It's nice!
I have my Dad's 572 that's 30 years old or better. I can shoot it very well off hand and it's a squirrel killing machine.
