I have been reading the CZ rings are 11mm and will not fit the 3/8" rail 452 American despite being sold for the model 452 ?

What mounts are you all using on your 452 American 22 LR's?

I have 2 452's; one in 17HM2 and one in 22WMR, both Varmint Models. I have the Brownell/Warne 7.3 rings/bases and both fit solid and true. I have seen many posts on the BKL rings being the most sturdy for the 452, and am going to buy myself a set when I get my next 452 - a 17HMR. Seems the only thing that differs the American from the other styles is the barrel and stock, Receiver should be the same. The CZ rings should fit the American, though they are pricey. Love those CZ's. Don

I have a couple of CZ .22's settled on using old Weaver El Paso V22 scopes that had rings that mount directly to the CZ milled base. Mount lower and work just fine on the Scout, FS and American stocks.

I have two 452's, one in 22 American, and a 17 HMR Varmint model.
I use BKL's on them.

BKL was bought out by an airgun company and they are not exactly sure when they will be back in production as per their web site. I do know the last rings they produced we junk. People on another forum were VERY disappointed with them.

I have a set of BKLs I purchased almost 2 years ago and all in all they are not bad. I have since switch to a Picatinny base so I could easily swap scopes to other rifles.

How much did that Picatinny Rail run ya?

type on over to RimfireCentral and on their CZ forum you'll find probably a thousand posts on the subject of rings for CZs. Lots of votes for the BKL, lots for Burris Zee rings, and for Warnes as well. I like the Warnes myself.

I just scoped a CZ 452 American in 22 rf with Warne 7.3/22's. It seemed to work well and was fairly inexpensive.

I also have a CZ 452 Varmint in 17 HMR where I used the Burris Zee rings with a the 3/8" to Weaver adapter from Eric Brooks. A little more money than the Warne, but a dandy setup with the 40mm AO scope on the heavy varmint barrel.

I had good luck with the service and products I ordered from Eric Brooks. I have read recently on RFC that some were having trouble getting things in a timely manner though.

Don't forget the Talley rings for the CZ. That's what I have on my American, and think they are about as good as rings get.

I use Burris Deluxe 22 high rings on my 452. They are 3/8".

Parallax is no issue what so ever but on real close stuff the 6x is too much. Im goint to put a 4x on it for hunting I think. But for tree rats the 6x is perfect. I have been doing some rabbit hunting with it and its way to much scope for that, but that is an open sight game IMO.

i'm thinking of buying a cz 453 in .22lr. are these rifles drilled and tapped for scope bases or are they all dovetail grooved? i haven't had the chance to eyeball one in person yet. i'm just going to order a new one and go from there.

Thanks guys! I think I may go with the Warne 7.3/22. Do any of you have clearance problems with the bolt with a set of mediums? Scope is 36 mm.

I have a CZ 452 Varmint in HM2. My experience is that you have to be careful which Warne 7.3/22 you use depending on the scope and the rifle. Due to the 42mm objective and the fact that I use Butler Creek caps, I ended up having to order high rings. The mediums that I started with placed the AO objective a paper's thickness above the varmint's thick barrel. No way to add the cap. On top if that, the bolt, although operable, did contact the side of the scope. Using high rings solved both issues.

All that being said, if you have a regular barrel 452, are using a non-AO scope, or scope with a smaller objective, the medium rings should clear nicely at the objective, but still have the bolt issue. I have always tried to mount my scopes as low as possible but in this case, I had to use high rings.

One other thing to remember about the 7.3/22s. The top part of the rings are more than a half round. So they have to be "snapped" down over the scope body before setting the screws. This is a bit unnerving if you are doing it on a new scope. So make sure to place the scope carefully and near the eye relief you want, and then carefully press the rings down into place.

Otherwise, Iove these Warne rings.

I use Rimfire Technologies Dovetail to Picatinny rails and Burris Signature Zee rings.

No trying to hijack the thread but if any of you want to try a rimfire tec picatinny rail I have one I want to sell.

I went with the Talley's on my BRNO #1. I won't say they are the best but they work great and look fantastic.

I don't know why CZ hasn't modified the bolt handle on the 452 for better clearance of scope bells, it it's an easy mod.

No Terry, not just the Talley's. That BRNO #1 looks equally fantastic. Very Nice Rig. I've never had a BRNO before, but all reports indicate that you have a very special rig in that #1.

Leupold makes a set for the 11mm dovetail on this rifle that I use and like. It is available in two different hieghts.

Yes, a lot like the CZ452's but different in subtle way's. The barrel on the #1 with the intgral base mount is beautiful. They're extremely accurate too. The stock style is nice but I reshaped mine and added a few changes. When I bought this one, the metal was perfect but the wood was extremely rough. It's a nasty piece beechwood. I did the best I could with it. I recontoured the grip, added a grip cap, sanded as much nasty off as possible, added a buffalo horn buttplate and stained and finished the stock. I'm happy enough with it.

At one time I was going to use it as the base for a custom .22LR. I was going to have a real nice open grip stock made for it with a pretty piece of walnut. A custom bottom plate for the magazine and have it checkered. A new trigger guard built like the ones on the other thread. I decided I have spent enough on rifles to last a lifetime and just want to go hunting now
