I enjoyed reading about the rimfire everyone would keep if you could only keep one. But here's a new twist to the question. Lets say you don't own any rimfires (so there's no nostalgia involved) and you are going shopping and can only purchase one. Which currently manufactured rimfire would you choose and why?
For me it would be tough to choose between the ruger 10/22 and the Browning BL22. It might have to come down to a coin toss....
a Kimber (with an aftermarket stock, Mannlicher) or a full stock Anschutz m54 fullstock. An early (post war) M52 Winchester Sporter....the gunnut69
Sako finnfire with Leupold 3x9 EFR. This is the best shooting most accurate .22 RF I've ever owned. My wife will have our Win. 62A She calls this gun "the popper" more fun than we've had with our cloths on for quite some time!! good shootin... vbshootinrange.
Easy choice:
Bolt: Kimber HS, Anchutz, Sako Finnfire
Auto: Remington 552, T/C 22 auto, Anchutz auto
Lever: Browning BL22, Marling 39A, Winchester 9422
Pump: Remington
Single Shot: Winchester 1885, T/C Contender, H&R or NEF
Depends on which ones the gun shop has in stock.
Larry L
AFTER you buy and shoot your 10-22 the answer to this question will, hopefully,be more easily deciphered.
Until, and unless, you get one it's all a matter of listening to someone else's opinion.
Bolt, pump, lever, semi, foreign, domestic, MOA, blah, blah, blah.
At least, once you've got your 10-22, you're in the game.
Others can rag it or praise it, but, you're in.
2D
Not counting custom rigs, the Sako Finnfire is the best deal going, semi-reasonably priced, able to install new barrels by undoing a couple of screws, and usually very accurate out of the box.
10-22s are fun and can be very accurate if tweaked, but by the time you buy a barrel, trigger, etc you might as well get a Sako that will almost certainly outshoot it to start with, and you'll have less money in it.
this is easy, the best .22 ever made is the Marlin model 39A...... gut

Or as it goes, you can't turn a Chevy into a Mercedes.
