Got a question. With all the .22's that are showing up on the other thread I haven't seen a Weatherby. The reason I ask is my dad owns one, best shooting gun I've ever seen. I was wondering if this is a rare gun. I believe the barrel says Weatherby Mark XXII (semi-auto). I think its fairly old b/c its been around ever since I was alive, that makes it at least 18. Thanks for any answers.

The Weatherby Mark XXII isn't a rare rifle, just uncommon. They were discontinued in 1989 and were available with tube or magazine feed. They were always the high end of US .22s and the impossible dream for lots of kids back then. At present, if in shootable but ugly condition they are still worth $180 (60%), up to about $400 (100%), this is for Japanese manufacture; the Italian manufactured ones are a little bit higher. Keep the rifle and try not to gloat when you shoot it, smirks are okay. :-)<BR>batch
