CZ will be here in 4 days and no 22LR ammo to be found.

I'll be yelling Bang! Bang! for awhile I guess.
Wait and feed it good ammo when it becomes available. Break her in right!
Eley Tenex or Federal Bulk ... what difference does it make in "breaking it in"??

get whatever lead boolit you can find and shoot til Wolf MT, CCI-SV or Eley Target become available ... one of these three will make her sing.
pm sent to you

Cheaper then Dirt and Grafs have the ELey stuff available... Enjoy that 455 I have one as well and love it.
You mean you don't have ANY .22 rimfire ammo in the house?

HOW is this even possible????

Sold my 77/22 10yrs ago...no ammo. I found some Eley match grade ammo for $12 box, how does match Eley work for squirrel hunting?
In spite of a good cleaning, mine took a couple hundred rounds before it came around and started to shoot well. Be prepared for that. Don't get excited if it seems to shoot poorly at first, it'll come around.
I ordered a new in box 452, it will be in mon. It's a thumbhole varmint model. Looking forward to taking it to the range. All i have are some CCI mini mags. Any of you guys use them in your CZs?

My gamo .177 is terror on squills in my backyard..Eley is probably overkill grin

Good advice...I have about a brick of Federal and Remington bullets left that were sitting in the garage. I will use them to breakin the barrel and then buy the good stuff
Flat nose should be decent and have little meat damage. If they're as accurate in your rifle as they are in my Ruger, head shots at 50 yards should not be only doable, but the order of the day.

Good luck!

They shoot great in my 455, around .3" at 50 yards. I can't fuss about that.
three 5-shot groups in a row and all three are at 0.3?? With mini-mags?

That is friggin' amazing ... truly.

The squirrel is a noble little beast. Why not use the best. I remember one devoted old squirrel hunter that used a Savage/Anshutz 54 Sporter and nothing but Eley Tenex. Head shots were his norm.
I've been wanting a CZ also - but I may just put it off and get a Beeman R-9 pellet rifle - I have a few areas to shoot chuck in that a pellet rifle is just the ticket and there are still get pellets on the shelves.
One of those "believe it or not", my CZs all love the Remington bulk packs from Walmart. Runs under MOA in all my CZs.

Really have not found any .22 ammo that will not work well in a CZ...

Bob
That's some good shooting RJM!
My 452 likes Fed bulk pack from Wally world, and CCI Mini Mags about equally well, haven't found any really BAD shooting ammo in it yet. I don't understand not being able to find .22 ammo...the hardware store in town here has a couple cases of Remington(the only .22 they handle), and no big sales rush on it.

It must be a regional thing. I'm seeing most stores in my area with well stocked 22LR selection.
I haven't seen any in weeks. I can fin 223 but not 22 LR. Crazy.
I don't have a CZ in 22LR, but Federal Auto Match bulk packed ammo shoots very well in my HB 10/22, often equal to or better than Aguila Golden Eagle match.

BTW, I'm sure glad I bought a chitload of 22LR ammo in the 90's. This ammo craze is just nuts.
I shoot between 6-8k per year, most for plinking 10/22 & 39A. About 1-1.5k in more precise shooting. I have close to 14k, mostly plinking. A brick of Match and Tenex will get me through the year ... I'll survive.

FWIW, don't see myself as a horder. I find stuff on sale and buy a few bricks. Always plenty left when I leave. Actually I haven't bought plinking ammo in over a year. Haven't found any decent sales in that time.

It appears the OP now has ammo and his new rifle. Now we need a range report.
CZ got shipped late, arriving in 2 days. Will post pics then range report. Ya no yelling bang, I got some ammo! Thanks
Glad it's working out for you, and that your CZ proves to be an accurate one. I'd sure like to find a 452 lefty.

I'm sure that this involves the complexities of manufacturing and international trade, but I have to wonder why the Cheskies can produce ordinary sporting rifles offering such consistent accuracy, when accuracy and QC in general, in most non-custom rifles, is such a crap shoot these days?

No kidding. Why is it people don't have a decent supply of 22lr at home? Breaking out a 22 can mean at least 500 rounds being shot if not more. I can't imagine not having several thousand rounds on hand at all times.
Did you not read the thread? The OP states he sold his rimfire 10 years ago and has been rimfire free for that period of time. Why on God's green Earth would someone stockpile 1000's of rounds of ammo for which he doesn't have a firearm to chamber it?

I bought a 455 2 months ago and there was no ammo on the shelves when I bought the stupid rifle. I have not owned a 22 for at least 7-8years. I just purchased 5 years worth of ammo for my rifle not counting the very old ammo I have sitting at home already. I don't buy ammo for rifles and pistols I don't own.
My 452 American is one of the most accurate 22LR rifles I've ever had the pleasure to own, these guns are amazing ,especially as reasonably priced as they are .

If'n ya want one, I'd wishlist it at Bud's. Then when you get the email that it's in stock, do not hesitate, buy. That's how I got mine a couple weeks ago.
Thanks. Did so today. :-)
