I found this pistol this week at Brownell’s. It was made 20 years ago, August 1997, and it doesn’t look like it’s been fired since it left the factory. I hope to change that tomorrow.

I have one but don't shoot it much. Bought it new when they were introduced and then picked up the longer target barrel as an aftermarket item. It wasn't too well received when introduced, the main beef as I recall was the magazine release was located inconveniently. I have some magazine articles about it from back in the day around here somewhere.
Dghuppert: I have one of these myself - its new and unfired in the box.
Some years ago I bought it at a giveaway price late on a Sunday at the Bozeman, Montana gunshow.
I have so many Ruger and Browning heavy barrel 22 semi-autos that I just never got around to shooting the Colt 22.
Mine seems well made and balances in my hand nicely.
I think they are properly called "Colt 22"?
Enjoy yours and be sure to let us know how it functions/shoots.
Good luck with it.

i've got one, bought new from Arvn sports in macon ga. i've shot the hound out of it. it is Not the target model but the standard.

it's good for plinking rabbits on the side of the road, with the truck window rolled down.

never had a bit of problem with it. seems like the basic design belongs to someone else now. can't keep up.
They were introduced as the "cadet". Trademark infringement on someone so they dropped the cadet and simply called it the Colt .22
