I have a Savage MKII but need to purchase another 22LR for the wife. I have a question for anyone that has shot or owns both the CZ and the MKII. Which of the two shoot tighter groups?? When I do My part, I am happy with the Savage but if the CZ will shoot better I would seriously consider buying one. Give me your opinion on your experience with both of the guns. Thanks Daniel

Fullstock and varmint models here. With right ammo all over my Savage
papat, my savage is the BV model. Heavy bull barrel with laminated stock.
The CZ rifles are pretty good, not exactly heirloom quality, but darned nice. No flies on the Savages, though.

I had a CZ 455 American, with all three barrels, that didn't shoot to my expectations, but it was an early one, A-prefixed. I've since bought a C-prefixed 455 Scout that shoots ALMOST as well as my 452 American, on any given day, it will shoot right with it.

The Savages I've seen work well enough, if the magazines work (no guarantees on that), Savage magazines seem built as an afterthought, not as an important part of the equation, and not very well made. None of the three CZs I've owned or own have ever given me a minute's grief feeding any kind of ammo. The .17HMR Savage I had had the cheesiest magazine I've ever seen on a new rifle.

I liked the Savage, but gave it away, and went CZ all the way. I think the Savages will shoot with anydamnedthing in it's price range, but the mags suck.
I can’t help on the Savage .22 but I do have a CZ 455 varmint, I’ve had it to the range twice. The first time I had it out, using Lapua Center X ammo I put 5 shots into 1 hole at 50 yards. The next time I shot a group of 20 shots that was one big ragged hole at 50 yards.

I do have a Savage 17hmr that I haven’t shot in quite a while, it’s a very good shooter as well.
