One could take a Winchester target 52 C model, it must be the "C " for the excellent trigger.
Either re-barrel or machine existing barrel to a tapered octagon put your own wood on it in a stock made for you .....and have a very fine one of a kind custom. .
I've only seen a half dozen of these rifles for sale over the years and this one is one of the top two for stunning wood.
I had one with AA wood on it from 1992 till about 8 years ago or so...bought for $1300, sold for $3600 but it was a repeater. About two years ago one just like it but just a little better wood sold for $10K on GB....
Will be interesting to see what thiis single shot goes for...
When I was 17 my heart would beat faster every time I would read the article on the 541-S in G&A. I scraped and scrimped til I got the $169 to get one. Heart does the same thing when I see this 40-x. $4025 with 24 hours to go. I bet it goes up 50% before it closes. Anybody need a kidney?
Fugawe: Its over $5,000.00 (five thousand dollars!) now! Wow is right. Still 8 (eight) hours to go on the auction - you are right it will be interesting to see what it does sell for.
RJM: Thanks for posting the link to this cool Rifle.
