Thinking of upgrading to a new 4 seater CanAm Commander Max 800 - don’t know much on the Can Am UTVs other than what’s in their website. Want to be able to haul the wife and kids up in the mountain. Thoughts in the CanAm?
Following this
I had two neighbors with Can Ams.......ran them for a couple of years. Now one has Polaris and the other a Honda. I don't know the particulars.

Or........

Honda or Yamaha

Ha

have a bud that moved to Nampa........
I have over 6000 miles on our commander. I have done a ton of upgrades but overall we really like our SxS. When I upgrade next I will be looking at the Yamaha Wolverine X2 or for your needs look at the X4.
I know nothing about the can am, but if you’re bigger than a circus midget, the Wolverine might be a problem. It’s tiny in the entry, exit, and overall cab room department. Felt like I was in a cross between a Bradley cockpit and a go cart.
Were you in the RMAX? A friend just bought one and I was very impressed with the room. Almost as comfortable as my Commander.
I have no idea....is one 4-place wolverine bigger than another? I’m 6’2”/#230, and I got in everything (not pure sport, but at least a little utility oriented, so no Razors, etc) they had there, and they have Yamaha, Honda, Kawa, Polaris, and CanAm. Now, the Wolverine is more sport, and it may have been the only ‘sport’ themed model I tried. It appeared it had more utility potential than the razors with a trunk. The only one I had a takeaway on involving ease of entry/exit, and cab space was the Wolverine.....even the Pioneer 500 felt better. Keepin mind: I’m not strapping into one to ride all day. I’m in and out a lot to do work, or getting from point A to B mostly....so my perspective leans accordingly. I haven’t approached it from a trail riding or sport mentality at all...just a caveat.
I had a Commander for a couple years and thought it was a decent machine. I liked the torque of the v-twin and thought it had the most comfortable seats of all the utvs i tested. My only complaints was the cabin heat ( mid-engine 2 seater) and noise from the high revving belt drive. Sellers market this year so I sold it and bought a Honda.
Had a 1000cc Commander X . Very fast ,but very hot in the cabin due to the mid engine design. Belt replacement was a pain in the are. you had to drop the skid plates, loosen like 12 bolts remove cover just to get to the belt. Now own a Polaris

Changing the belt on my Razor is easy IF you have the right tools. You need a 10mm socket with an extension to get the cover off. Then you need a way to get the belt off. I used a pry bar to pull it sideways as I turned the sheave. Getting the new one on takes more work. A strap wrench to turn the sheave helps, too. I don't know about the CanAm, but with the Polaris, if it grinds when you shift gears, you need a new belt.

edited to add: you also need a couple different sizes of wrenches to remove the seat belt bar. I can't remember exactly what sizes they are.

Having the same problem with my 2020 Teryx.....If it is over 50 out!!!!!!! you will melt...I wish someone would have warned me....There is no way I could use it during early bow season or picking black berries in June...I am going to sale it and back to Polaris for me........
I don't know what all models they make them for but I put one of these SuperAtv windshields on my Polaris RZR. The nice thing about this one is that you can ride on rough trails with it fully open. Many of them require them to be shut on rough stuff. Having it open makes a huge difference in how cool the cab is.

That is the windshield that my can-am has. Scratch resistant.

Scratch resistant, yes, but far from scratch proof. Never wipe the dust off without getting it wet. Dust is abrasive and it's like using fine sandpaper on it. I carry a spray bottle and a soft towel to clean it with on occasion. That applies to all plastics, including eye glasses.
We use a waterbottle and squeegee to clean it off during the summers. During the winter we just use the squeegee, same as in the rain. I was not paying attention one time on the trail and was doing about 20 mph. Hit a low hanging dead branch on the passenger side and the wife was looking at me saying something when I hit that branch. Sounded like a gun going off in the cab and pieces of branch was flying all over. Put a small scratch in the windshield about eye level with her. Had we not had the windshield I am sure it would have impaled the wife. They are tough windshields.
