I went with the Seizmik hard-coated flip-down on my Mule Pro FXT. Seems sturdy enough. No problems on the trailer at 65mph. Easy to flip it down for air flow. It was either that model or the Super ATV flip-up model.

1 piece or 2 piece J?

I have a1 pcs. ,with vents you can open at the bottom. plenty of air flow. just make sure you get glass. plastic scratches, and dust clings to it ,due to static electricity

Read the fine print: can you ride trails with it open? Many say no. I want it open unless weather is bad.

Mines from SuperATV. It can be used open no matter how rough the trail. Its a 1 piece with a small piece across the bottom. It can run in the closed, vent or open position.

I'm new to these machines and recently bought my first. I went Can Am and the dealer said they sell more glass windshields with wiper/washer than anything else. I went that route and love it. Can Am doesn't offer the wiper/washer except on the glass windshield which doesn't tilt or have vents so is pretty hot right now.

I knew from the start I'd want something different for summer and was thinking half windshield. After looking at all the Can Am and aftermarket options (vented, hinged, tilting, half windshield, etc.), I wasn't finding what I thought I wanted. Then I stumbled on a mesh windscreen by Rogue Powersports and it seemed to me to be the best solution for hot weather considering I'm already covered for cooler weather.

It arrived yesterday and will go on Saturday - anxious to see how it works. Supposedly protects from rocks, sticks, mud clods, bugs in the face, etc. but allows airflow as if no windshield. Dust collects on screen without affecting visibility and wipes off without scratching like plastic, and mud clods get flicked off. Visibility doesn't deteriorate from sun glare as it gets dirty like glass or plastic. Overall makes a lot of sense to me...

We have a Polaris Ranger so our options might be different than yours. First thing you may need to consider is that if you drive in a dusty area you will likely need to install a back glass if you put in a full windshield as it changes the air flow and your cab will be full of dust with no back glass. I did not want to spend the extra money for a glass windshield as my luck it would be chipped or broken. I went with the coated scratch resistant full windshield without vents. We then had to put in a back windshield to counter act the dust. I have had no problem with it scratching or yellowing because you need to wash off the dirt before you touch it. Just common sense or you will grind in the dirt and scratch the windshield.

I also have a half windshield for warm weather from Rough Country. It was the tallest one I could find at just over 15" at the center and my ball cap stays on at over 40 mph. We take out the back glass when we have the 1/2 windshield in and it eliminates the heat and dust issues, gives you the open air feel without beating you up so much.

If I didn't have a windshield and buying one I would go with a plastic hard coated two piece that you could either raise the upper partially and or fully, or the upper would fold down making it a half windshield. There are also some that the lower half which isn't very tall, maybe 6" give or take, can be removed so the airflow over the hood comes in the cab and it keep the wind and dirt from your upper body and face.

Glass is great but the cost and chance of breaking should be considered.

Don't forget once you have a windshield in you may need the back glass to keep the cab from filling up with dust and choking you out.

Good luck.

I've been running the Kolpin split window on my Rhino and added a hand operated windshield wiper I got off a Amazon, works great and saves me from having to clean the windshield every time I hit a mudhole or it's raining like hell. I've also got a back window (vinyl) and it doesn't seem to help much with dust but I like it for holding the heat in the fall and winter.

The D O T glass windshield is the way to go.
Bottom panel opens for ventilation.
I ride trails and roads used by loggers.
In dry & dusty conditions the plastic will suffer dust cling
Before the glass windshield I had to hang my head out the side for visibility.
Difficult to see some switch backs at night
Not safe if you can see where you are going.

Did an 80 mile round trip in 90+ degree heat with the mesh windscreen from Rogue and absolutely loved it for hot weather. Cool breeze through the cab whenever you're moving and totally comfortable. Very glad I went this route rather than hinged/tilting/half whatever windshield. As soon as it cools off, the full glass windshield will go back on but I do believe this combo is the best for both winter and summer even considering the effort to swap them out twice a year...

I have a new gator 825M and my windshield can be opened in the bottom. I know if going down dirt roads when it's dry and dusty the cab will fill with dust without the lower windshield opened. This is without following another machine.

How does it hold up in rain?
Posted By: JGray Re: SxS windshields - 08/03/21
Not sure - put it on a few weeks back and it hasn't rained a drop since then. Reviews I've read say it tends to difuse water coming through so it's more of a mist. It's supposed to stand up to rocks, mud clods and small rocks.
