I recently bought a 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 350 from a hunting buddy who is too old and sick to use it any more. I paid $1,500 for it. How did I do? I don't know the mileage offhand. It is 150 miles away from me at hunting camp.

I didn't realize that Yamaha even made a little one like that, let alone called it a Grizzly! Now their little one is a 450 Kodiak and the Grizzly is a 700. I wish that those smaller machines were still available. I'm reminded of a buddy who went riding with his more experienced buddies and Dave and a borrowed 700 hit a tree and it racked him up pretty good. I rather like our older 300 Kawasaki and 400 Polaris for the slow plunking around that we do at the cottage and neither one is too unmanageable for the grand kids and newbies to ride. That little 300 has low range and I use it to push in and pull out a small pontoon boat in the spring and fall.

1500 - if it runs and is in decent shape, good deal. That's basically the floor these days for a good running machine.

Basket case/parts quads seem to drop below that price but not far. I'd say you did well and as a Yamaha, it should be a great machine. Even if you get 4 weekend's use out of it, cheaper than renting.

Not a bad deal if it's in good condition and was well maintained.

Thanks for the replies. It's in good shape. The previous owner is a little guy who is now in his 80s and has congestive heart failure. He can't hunt anymore, so he doesn't need it. I'm not much younger at 77, but I'm in better shape and am an old dirt bike rider. I love riding ATVs. I usually borrow one from one of the guys at camp who isn't hunting when I am, but that can leave me without a way to get to my deer stand if no ATV is available.

I ride two newer Grizzlys at my friend's farm here in NJ. They are a 700 and a 750. I love riding them. I could borrow one for deer season, but I would have to trailer it up to the Catskills. My little 350 will be enough for what I am doing, mainly getting back and forth to my deer stand and hopefully getting my deer out of the woods.
