We lost a chicken to a brown bear yesterday. First one of the year, and first since the electric fence went up. They were free ranging yesterday though. We lost one to a coyote this spring, but bear activity had been very low.

On the way out the driveway yesterday morning, our 4 year old says "Brown Bear Dad". I didn't see anything, but kept looking down below the road, and sure enough there was a young one poking around down there.

Too many wolves, bears, lions, and weeds.
