Anyone have / had one? Tell me.....I gotta know. One might be following me home.
My uncle had one for putzing round the tree patch. 350cc air coolerd and pretty good machine. not real fast but moves enough to interest a guy intent on burning up some real estate. IIRC you were looking for a quad for the wife? This would be good. It's happy at slow speeds, can move fairly quick when expirence allows yet isn't a full on race monster that can not be used by a beginner.
She rode it last night and commented it handled much better than my QuadRunner. Apples to oranges I know, but she liked it despite the manual clutch. Still thinking about it. There is a lot of hop up stuff for them, which is cool. I'm still thinking....
I've put quite a few hours on Warriors. I think they are a great 2whl drive, do anything 4whlr. you are right, there are countless add ons and ways to make them faster.. A buddy on here has one that he dropped a couple teeth on the front sprocket and geared it down.... It has alll kind of low end power... 721
Thanks for the replys, gents. Wifey decided she liked my QuadRunner for the trail riding we do, so she glommed onto mine. Well, you know I needed one so here it is:
1992 Yamaha Warrior. Runs out strong. Brand new tires. The only negative is a small oil leak. Everyone I ask about these things says the same thing: Bulletproof. We shall see..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
You'll like it.. first thing I would do is get different rear tires.. a lower profile "Flat" top tire will double the stability and traction.. ITP Holeshots, Bandits, or if in really muddy terrain Realtors.. A 2-4in wider axle would also do wonders... you can get axles, Dura-blue I think, that are 2in wider that come with inch spacers on each side.. if trails are narrow go with the 2 in... just some food for thought... 721
+ a bajillion on the hole shots. Outside of a utility quad - I wouldn't run anything else. Had them on the Banshee. Kick butt tire.
Yup, I would love to put on better tires and do the rear wheel invert to widen it.
Next up, a pipe (muffler is rotten) and filter with jets.
Wifey bought me a set of Maxxis Razr tires for the rear for my birthday. Wheel invert netted me 2 1/4" wider stance and I'm pimpin' for a good used performance pipe and intake kit. Somebody stop me......
Yea, I know.
I am looking for a Yamaha Big Bear oil filter / cooler assembly. Anyone have one?
Ordered the oil cooler adapter today.....
you are on a roll now!! it never ends once you get it started.... 721
Criminy!!!!! 10.25:1 JE piston, .430 cam, Edelbrock carb, lengthened A-arms. Well, not yet.....
Spend some cash on ELKA suspension pieces - tell them your weight and riding style/ability - they will valve them special for you. That is the cat's azz - may as well do it with eth extended A-arms do a full on LT set up - then have the head ported too.
The Maxxis Razr tires are amazing. I can't believe the difference. I picked up the cooler pieces today, still need to order the cooling coil. I'm going to put a top end gasket set in it to cure the oil leak. I currently have a couple of guys who have aftermarket exhausts for sale.
Also looking into upgrading the plastics.......
bulletproff... thats an understatment! my grandpa has one that is either 85, 88 or 89... anyways, he has 14 grandkids, 12 of us love to ride quads! imagine a quad that has a [bleep] of miles on it.... multiply that by 10 and thats how many his has on it. it is an absoluete work horse! thing is awesome! he does regualr maintance on it so it still purrs like a kitten but it has been through hell and back and still runs great! i hight reccomend them! fast enough to have fun, but slow enough to hunt on, i love em! and four stroke to boot!
Installed my oil cooler today. Installation was a snap and it looks and works cooler than the other side of the pillow.....
Picked up a used Supertrapp IDS2 slip-on today and a used Alba front bumper. Pipe sounds gooooood......
Be careful out there. You using that for your work? I hope if you are it has a winch. what are you using for tires on your Warrior?
Naw, this is for play. Wifey likes to ride my work quad. Front tires are Dunlops, backs are Maxxis Razrs. No winch, but wifey can pull me out when I get in trouble......
I got a set of grey plastics to change the color to something besides powder blue.
More pics to come later.....
Ok, updated picture. Here it is with new plastics and lights. 20" Maxxis Razr tires and oil cooler. The thing runs goooood.
BTW, I'll be getting shock covers to conceal the nasty pink/purple springs.....

Makes me want to go jump on my kawi.Good job.Looks like she's pretty quick.
It's stock, but the 20s on the back give a bit more grunt at the start. With my 22s it was a struggle to get a wheelie, but with the 20s it's easy.

I should have elaborated a bit. This should have read: It's stock, but the 20s on the back give a bit more grunt at the start. With my 22s it was a struggle to get a wheelie in 2nd gear without clutching it, but with the 20s it's easy.
