Have seen in a few places that Benelli is making a new rifle called the LUPO, I thought that maybe Sako was making them but no, in theory it is all Benelli.

Wondering if anyone has actually seen or touched one ???????there must be something special about them for $1500 and it only comes in 3 calibers????
270, 30-06 and 300WM

I wouldn't pay 500 for it, 1500 is a disgrace.

Wow. Until reading this post, I didn't know I wanted a new rifle. Benelli shotguns are expensive for what you get, but in my experience, they're really well designed. That makes me want to try this gun. Regarding features,. I can't think of anything else I would want in a hunting rifle. From reading reviews: accurate with a variety of ammo; good trigger; ergonomically adjustable stock that lowers recoil; good scope mounting system; moderate weight; chambered for powerful cartridges; threaded 5/8x24. What else would you want in a hunting rifle?

I may have to save my money and try one.

The features seem nice, but $1500 seems a bit much for a factory rifle that is unproven.

Hunted in South Africa with one: didn't care for the looks but the performance was excellent. Somewhere on here there is a post about it.

Is that a smooth barrel nut at the barrel / receiver junction? Or, just a curious step down in the barrel contour ?

That was my thoughts, $1500 buys you a lot of rifle these days. The few reviews I read were very very positive though, and Benelli is known for outstanding products that do cost more than their competitors but generally out perform them.

Why not tone it down to a more classic style?
Benelli loves to make ugly chit.

Not the LUPO but one of my hunting buddies in Sweden has been using a Benelli R1 for a few years now and it has proved to be accurate and reliable albeit quite ugly...

I got to handle one today at the LGS, has some unique features.. It has a 3 lug bolt that is turned down on the back half (apparently to save weight and look cool). A DBM of their own design and you can mount a sling without studs right to the stock, it also has a wizz-bang recoil pad and a fairly nice trigger.

All in all a pretty nice factory rifle but I will let others part with $1500 and decide later.

It LOOKS like a $1,500 Ruger American with an even uglier stock than usual.

When a Sako 85 has sex with a Benelli Vinci this is what you get.

I handled one at my place of employment. Ugly as hell, but the Eyetalians are known for what they think is cutting edge design. For the money, I'd rather have a Sako.

Lots of innovations in one package, the ability to adjust grip angle and cant is nice. Times are a'changin' and good, bad or indifferent this is the way of the future...

This.

I'm sure it's very well made, but man, the lines are just hideous. Kind of looks like how a 13 year old really into tactical airsoft stuff would design a "sniper rifle."

Exactly! Couldn't have said it better.

I don’t think it’s bad looking at all.

I’m a huge fan of Benelli shotguns. I’d like to one of these in person.

The latest NRA Rifleman mag showed in the mailbox yesterday. The Lupo and Federal terminal Ascent were highlighted articles. Out of 6 rifles they shot, the Lupo gave the best groups.

Not offered in Stainless. For $1500, that’s a deal breaker for me.
Posted By: SS336 Re: Benelli LUPO rifle - 08/19/20
It was between the Lupo and the ad on page 43 of the Henry “big boy” tactical lever action, which was uglier.
I’m sure it shoots great, but come on, sooner or later your going to have to look at it.

We were told by the engineer that led the design team that the "scalloped" bolt is so that the magazine can sit higher in the receiver, slimming down the rifle's vertical profile.

It reminds of the similarity of fat chicks to mopeds.
