What’s your favorite application for it?
I don’t have my reloading manuals...
308 Winchester, 300 Savage, 250 Savage
It's right there with N140, Varget and IMR4064.
I keep a lot of it on hand because it is so versatile. I use it in .22-250, 6,5x55, 9,3x62, 9x57, 9,3x57, .35 Whelen and several others. In some it gives great velocity, in others it doesn't achieve top velocities. That said, it has never failed to provide better than MOA accuracy.
22-250 with 50s.
243 with 55 grain Ballistic Tips.
35 Whelen, 9.3x62, 9.3x74R, 375 Renner, 375 H&H, 405 Win., 450/400 N.E.. Definitely good for the "mediums". Terry

Bear, youre loading for some darn good calibers, aye?
My thoughts on RL 15:
Ooh and ahh all yas want over big game, rl 17, Mr-2000 or any newer powder that might have some magical advantage.
RL 15 will always do the same thing. It's all over the place as well, availability wise.
30-30, 308, 35 Whelen are my top three, but the 35 Whelen is by far my favorite use for R-15, particularly with heavy cast bullets.
6BR, Dasher or 6mmBRA with 105's. Only drawback it that it is a bit dirty.
I like it best for the 303 Brit. It's always given me good accuracy and velocity wit the 174-180 grain bullets.
I use RE15 in the .35 Whelen. With my rifle and the 225 gr. TSX, it's a marriage made in heaven.

Great list dancing bear. I'd have to add one to it:
Its just great chidt. I saw some at the LGS the other day and had to buy a couple pounds of it. Funny you can still find RL15 when a lot of my other favorite powders are unobtanium right now...
It works well in my .375 H&H
Sounds like a great powder. I’ll have to try some. They had 17 in shop today, maybe 15.

RL15 is next to impossible to find.. but I just use in my 375 H&H. I use AR comp in my 223 Wylde. H4895 in the 224 Valkyries. Speaking of H 4895 that’s next to impossible to find as well.
7-08 Rem. Great powder for that round.

Especially with the 120 grain bullets.
223: 24.5gr with a 69gr or 77gr Sierra Matchking
7mm-08: 45gr with a 120gr Nosler BT
308: 43.8gr with a 175 Sierra Matchking or 178 ELD
I've shot welllllll over 500lbs of '15 alone and it were/is a FAVORITE,in many applications...after all of these years. Hint.
From the hip: 224Wby,225Winny,22BR,22-250,22-250AI,Swift,CHeetah,6BR,XC,243 Kreedmire,243,243AI,6mm,6mmAI,25-284,25-06,264 Kreed,260,260AI,7-08,7-08AI,308,375H&H and 375H&H AI as mainstays. Tried it many others, but it fell there, either due case capacity in general or due specific projectile weights. Hint.
My favorite chambering of All Time is 223AI,despite it not melding with my favorite propellant of All Time(though I TRIED). Hint. LAUGHING!
I bleed it.................
I use it in my .375 H&H with the 270 grain Swift A-Frame.
Works great in 7mm-08 and 308. I haven’t tried it in my 6.5 Creedmoor, but I’ll bet it would be good.

Damn buddy, I'm glad I bought 4895 when I found that as well. Damn near out of AR comp though, so I'll go back to using RL 15 in my 223's. I've tried varget in my 308's, but found RL15 to produce better accuracy in all of them. Great powder, that is somehow still available locally. I'M sure that will change in no time though. I was at a LGS across the river and asked the nice lady, gunshop owner, if she has seen any small rifle primers and she said all of her suppliers are out. I asked her how long she thought this would last and she said ammo manufactures are going full bore and using up all the supplies, so its making it hard for handloders to get stuff. Yeah, tell me about it!! I'm glad I am pretty stocked up on most things, but some of my normal stuff is running low. I've had to slow down on shooting the last couple months!!! I bought a new synthetic stock for my SKS there, so I'm going to go to shooting the 2,000 rounds of 7.62x39 ammo I have...

I lucked to into a 8lb jug of h4895 so I’m good for awhile.. I gave 3-4 lbs of AR comp. for my world is coming to and ammo I use leverevolution with 55’s lol..
I started using RL15 in .308 Win a few years back when Varget was AWOL. I found a good load for 168 ballistic tips and found the load to shoot well in multiple rifles. I've taken a number of deer with this load and deer don't go far when hit. Way back when, my favorite .308 powder was RL12 for 150 gr bullets, but that's ancient history at this point.
One of these days, I'll try it in my Whelen.
RL-15 was magic pixie dust for me when I was reloading for .375 H&H...
How does rl-15 compare to rl-16? I've used rl-15 in the 308 and 8mm with good results. MB
What’s your favorite application for it?
I don’t have my reloading manuals...
I use RL-15 with lighter varmint bullets in the 243 ,
Some nice loads with the 65 gr v-max up to 75 gr v-max.
It’s very similar to varget for velocity and consistency.
I bought a lot of it when one gun shop closed up here.
7-08/120's, 308/155's, 375 H&H 250/270's.
375HH 77 grains behind a 250g barnes ttsx.
Use RE15 in my H&H 500/450 3 1/4” NE double with Kynock foam wads, same for double H&H 375 Flanged Mag without wads. Also loaded it in my 500 3 1/4” double with foam wads before I sold it. Works really well.
I use it on my 308 Win:
44grs under 165gr Sierra Gameking BTSP
42grs under 180gr Hornady SST
.
223, .250 Svage-87 and 100 gr, 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308, .30-06, .338 Win Mag, .35 Whelen, .375 H+H 250-270 grain.

I haven't even been looking. Last time this shortage stuff came up I bought a bunch of RL-15 and H-4350 (my .30-06 powder of choice for 180 grainers and much more). Nice to be lucky once in a while.
Great group, Have you killed much with your 9.3x62?
RL15 gave me the best accuracy behind a 210gr Barnes TSX in my 338-06 when I worked up the load 15 years ago. Lots of new powders since them that I have not tried.
I tested some in one of my Creeds, under 129 Interlocks and it was incredibly accurate. The load is not fast, but plenty fast to smuck a deer.
My favorite use is in a 338 Win Mag with 200/210gr Nosler bullets. Doe pronghorn, to cow bison and bull elk, it has worked.
I also use it in a 30-06 with 165gr bullets. Works well enough there as well.

I've been using same with 120-129 grain bullets for my wife and daughter. Low recoil, great accuracy, plenty of poop for killing a deer if either decides that's what they want to do.
If I had to pick just one powder to rifle hunt the world, it would be RL15. Whether it's a .223 for small stuff, a 30/30 for the thick stuff, a .308 to shoot "mic drop" groups, a .338 Win Mag. vs. bull elk, or 375 H&H for sabre-toothed prarie dogs, RL15 is excellent (and yes - I've personally used RL15 in all of those). For small-caliber speedsters from the .243 on up through the 30 caliber mags there are much better powders, but RL15 can surprise you with some of those too.

223, .250 Svage-87 and 100 gr, 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308, .30-06, .338 Win Mag, .35 Whelen, .375 H+H 250-270 grain.

Just a couple Elk. It did the trick. Sold that rifle to Geno/valsdad...
Thanks guys.
I have about 4.5 pounds of it. All I remember using it is the 308 and 150’s.
30-06 w 130 gr. Barns tsx, 3200 FPS and 1.5” groups at 200 yards. Great sub 300 yard load
I ve been looking for RL 15 for months to no avail. I use it for 358 Win, 6.5 CR and 375 H&H.
I use it in .308 win & .338-06.
375, 450/400, 470NE, 500NE, 577NE, 600NE. Works great in all of them and has less recoil than say 4831.
For me, RL15 has been the best powder in several different 22-250 and 22-250AI barrels with 50gr. bullets. Best accuracy, best velocity.
I've had great luck with it in 35 Whelan and 375 ruger with 260g accubonds.
