Looking for a price check on this rifle. It’s a friends rifle he’s looking to get some cash or trade to buy a 9mm Sig.

It’s got some scratches, rear sight is missing pieces. Appears someone added some finish to it or something. Barrel and Rifling looks good. It would make someone a good shooter that didn’t want to bang up a safe queen.

Tag. Curious what folks say about this.
That is a early M700, has the tombstone safety and short bolt shroud, and probably the 20" bbl. Manufactured 1962 to about 1967/68. It's worth $150-$200 more than it was a year ago.......

Around here, $500-$650 would sell it fairly quick.

Edited to add: 1966 was the last year of the 20" bbl. The tombstone safety and short shroud remained through 1968.

I am guessing here at 1963-1964 I think they only cranked out about 70k in 1962 that gun has a 6 digit serial number. Mine is exactly like with 13, xxx serial first year 1962. The rear sight is missing the leaf and retaining pin and the elevator. They are availible here and there at gunshows by guys who specialize in old take off iron sights , they work well. The ADL guns of this vintage shoot damn nice. I killed my biggest white tail with mine. That day I was shooting a 44 year old rifle with 45 year old 150 grain ptd Corelokts ammo and I was 49 years old. Old stuff and old guys get things done evertime. I imagine my local LGS would price that at 425 or so. Hope this helps. Mb
Yep 425, 450...
