Yes, I’m jealous, wish I’d discovered 99’s years ago.
I’d trade an 1873 made in 1884 for one, maybe cash too.

It indeed is...The head of manufacturing at Leupold was from WI. They gave it to him as a retirement gift.
The guy didn’t hunt, or shoot. He gave it to me for painting out a few doors at his home.

I can do a fairly decent Brett Favre autograph on it for you....If you’re interested in a VX6

And my .325. I haven't gotten to test it out on anything bigger than freezer fillers. Yet. But I killed a couple of those and the bullet didn't bounce off.

JES rebore Portugal model 70 from 308 to 338 Federal, shortened to 20” with a barrel band front sight. Detachable peep sight mounts to steel Weaver bases when scope removed. Scope is a Weaver Grand Slam 4.75 fixed.
McMillan compact hunter McSwirly black and orange, standard fill.

Thanks. All are in the low/mid 10 pound range ready to hunt, excluding the one in the rear. Not light weight, but not insanely heavy.
I don't own any rifles please pass that message to Joebama Xiden.

Damn nice rifles fellas but I prefer mud and blood on my hunting rifles. I have a pre64 270 fw that looks like it was used to hold down barbed wire fences down while crossing when not being used as a boat paddle. That old scarred up sob still shoots 1/2 moa all day long. I’d give anything if it could talk while sitting down and sharing a bottle of Wild Turkey 101. I can only imagine. MAGA
Sold all my hunting rifles. I hunt pigs with a gaff and a club. Lot more exciting.

Here's my beater for driven game hunts. Win M70 SS Featherweight cal. 308 Win. in a Mc Hunters Edge stock, barrel bobbed to 20". It weighs 6 pounds 1 ounce with the X/S ghost ring sight which takes all of 10 seconds to install. I normally hunt it with a Bushnell Li'l P prism sight or a Holosun red dot. With either one the rifle weighs 6 pounds 4 ounces, a very slick handling little carbine.

My favorite all-around hunting rifle, 30-06, Remington 700 CDL, 6x Leupold. It's got a Timney trigger, has been pillar bedded and free floated. Shoots great!
Such a simple setup and it's been used to take antelope, mule deer, black bear, elk, wolf and grizzly. So pleased with this rifle:

Mine consistently shoots under 2" at 100 yards with cheap federal HP ammo and I when I hunt with it I use it in places where my longest shots are about 70 yards. It's been a great thick woods gun for me. Maybe I just got lucky.
I will say that most other ammo I tried did not shoot as well. I thought the hornady leverevolution stuff was going to be great but it shot awful.

"Grocery Getter"... she's the killer I seem to grab the most. She's kinda portly, but fun to shoot, as long as my friends don't see me!
1994 Winchester Model 70 Classic DBM .30-06. Only made one year (with DBM and CRF). Not my first rifle, but my first deer rifle, and the first gun I purchased myself new that same year. I just had to have a Winchester CRF rifle for my first big game rifle. 1994 was the return of CRF to the Winchester lineup after all. I guess all of those ads in Outdoor Life and Field & Stream had an effect on me growing up?!
I've got several hunting rifles. And I've sold / "dated / divorced" too many that I regret moving along. But "GG" and me... well, we're married for life!

I agree. You have to appreciate a rifle like that..
It’s now wearing a Bansner M70 Classic stock. Just have to get around to finishing it.

mine were stolen, at least the few that were left, after the others were destroyed in that huge flood we had in this area this past winter...
all I have left that survived is an old Daisy BB gun left over from the 60s and I can't find ammo for that anywhere....
plus its kinda rust anyway....
Heres a Remington .243 'retro' rifle I just cobbled together. A nostalgic holdover from a misspent youth...
nice vintage Tasco Scope on top?
can beat a retro Remington with a Tasco on top.. in 243....
I used to own these but have since replaced them with a couple of upper end stainless / synthetic rifles when I decided to get serious about hunting...
I did not realize one cannot be a serious hunter with wooden stocked rifles. Nice looking useless guns!

Beautiful rifles Cliff. That's like a "mic drop". Not too many of us can compare with those buddy... I'm not even going to try, but I did just get my new Brown PoundR fitted to my pre 64 300WBY barreled action. I'm pretty happy with this pair..:
For "hunting rifles", they are going to be hard to beat. Both are excellent shooters.. And weigh in around 8 pounds all up, as pictured..
Some incredibly nice rifles here. Lots actually!

Thanks. Yes that rifle was good to me in the '80s, as were the Montana Unlimited bighorn sheep units...
And it still worked in the '90s with a plastic stock...
Hell ya buffybr, great pics! 👊🏻

Do you load for it like a Garand with H4895 type powder.
I think that some of you fellers have far more money than I do! Looking at some of these rifles makes me think about the “trophy wife” …..they look great but ain’t good for much other than their looks!
Our definition of a “hunting rifle” varies greatly from dome’s vision! I see a “hunting rifle” as a tool, something to use…..not baby when hunting!
I know that I ruffled some feathers, that was not my intention ….merely a poor boys observation! memtb

Maybe you should go to Home Depot and get you some tools…

I hunt with the nice rifles I have. I take care not to beat them up. I have plastic stock rifles for beater or loaner occasionally.

Thanks for the tip Shrap! I do but some tools at Home Depot and other places that provide decent quality tools!
By the way….your recently posted rifle photo showed a good tool. Or, at least the US military thought it was! memtb
You don’t have to be careful with that one…

Another observation.......
I happen to enjoy "investments that shoot". I rarely buy new or commission customs. Rather I try to buy at 40% to 60% of MSRP.
Remington Model 7, Custom Shop, 7mm-08.
I use them, but do not abuse them.
Remington 700 Custom Shop, 300 Win Mag.
I find that it is hard to lose by making a profit,
and at which time should I become financially embarrassed or tire of said rifle, it usually is not hard to find someone that it will follow home.
ya!

Wow!
Someone said: "Life is too short to hunt with an ugly rifle." Although I don't have the finest examples, I am grateful for what I've been blessed with. I do admire those presented in these pages from Shrapnel's older gems to geedubya's newer works of art and all the other fine ones. Thanks for showing them fellers, I for one love to see them!
Yep some trophy wives (ladies in public and wh..res in the bedroom😊👍)…..nice rifles guys and some of the best ever made!!
PennDog
That’s a great rifle Gdub. Just a danged nice hunting rifle.
Rabbit hunting with the Colt Lightning SRC made in 1887...
I bought my first hunting rifle, 700 in 7 mag in Glenn Slades. I remember the Polar Bear.
Awesome rifle GDub! You bring back a great memory. My father took me to Glen Slades when I was a young boy just to see the Polar Bear. I remember looking up at that bear in awe at how big it was. Seemed like it stood up about 10 feet tall.
Jerry Fisher.... RIP Legend.
Whitebird that is a fne collection.
Details L to R please?
My son shot this bear with an original 1876 Winchester 45-75 in Alaska...
That’s pretty good stuff Shrapnel! I think Teddy R really liked the 45-75 quite a lot. Wrote a bit about his rifle in his elk short story book.
It great to have Shrapnel posting again.

How are those stocks when it comes to a quick snap shot on something?
That's amazing. I've got an very similar mauser like that from Heym in Germany that was imported into the states as a store chain brand.
Geedub that is a very nice rifle. Looks like a work of art.
It great to have Shrapnel posting again.
